The City of Providence is collaborating with Airbnb to expand short-term rental opportunities ahead of the World Cup. With visitors from around the globe expected to travel to Rhode Island, Providence is gearing up for a busy and exciting summer season. The collaboration aims to help meet increased demand for accommodations while giving local property owners new opportunities to host and earn extra income. 🏠 Interested in renting out your property during the World Cup? For more info: providenceri.gov/apply-for-shor… In addition, The Providence Business Center (located at 444 Westminster Street) will be hosting a Short-Term Rental Info Session on Thursday, May 28th, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm in which renters are encouraged to learn more about how to apply to be a short-term renter during the World Cup and after.

Today, we welcomed high school students from across Providence for Civics Day. They heard from a variety of voices involved in our local government and presented their own civics project. Congrats to all of the students who participated! 🌟

Congratulations to the Providence College Class of 2026! I'm incredibly proud to celebrate these students who chose Providence as part of their educational journeys, and I wish them all the best as they take their next steps into the real world.

Today, we celebrated Providence Promise at their annual 529 Day Celebration, highlighting the life-changing impact that early college savings can have on families across our cities. I'm proud to help advocate for Providence students as they take their next steps in their education - from opening college savings accounts and exploring early college + career pathways. Providence's future depends on ensuring every child has the resources and opportunity they need to pursue their educational dreams.

The rent in Providence is too high and we need real solutions to bring down costs for families. And I understand why rent control sounds compelling, but the reality is that it has consistently been shown to hurt those it is meant to help. In Cambridge, in Berkeley, in Portland, in St. Paul and more, rents actually went up under rent control and new construction plummeted. My plan provides direct rent relief now and lowers costs long-term through continued new construction. I look forward to working with the City Council to continue addressing the root cause of our housing shortage and bring down costs for all our neighbors.
