Today, we are proud to introduce three of our newest supervisors, promoted to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant. The promotional process in law enforcement is intentionally demanding. It is designed to identify those who can lead from the front; individuals who demonstrate not only competence, but sound judgment, unwavering integrity, and the ability to make critical decisions when it matters most. Leadership in this profession is not given lightly; it is earned through experience, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to others. Together, these three men bring over 50 years of law enforcement experience to their new roles. They have proven themselves time and time again, through long hours, difficult calls, and a steadfast dedication to both their teammates and the community they serve. This promotion is more than a new title. It is a responsibility to lead, to mentor, and to uphold the standards of this department, our beloved community, and the profession every single day. Please join us in congratulating Corporal Chris Hadley, Corporal Wayne Crenshaw, and Sergeant Curtis Jensen on this well-deserved achievement.

Paradise Valley Police Department Volunteer Recognition: Patricia! A huge thank you to our incredible YANA lead volunteer, Patricia , for going above and beyond for one of our community members! One of our residents joined the You Are Not Alone (YANA) program last year, and Patricia has been her steadfast point of contact ever since. When the resident fell outside their home last Thursday - injuring their head and elbow - they immediately called Patricia. Without hesitation, she contacted our emergency line, our dispatch team dispatched an ambulance right away, Patricia arrived at the home within minutes, stayed by the resident’s side, and ensured they were admitted to HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn. The very next day, Patricia returned to clean up the scene at the home and personally picked up the resident upon discharge to bring them safely back. Stories like this remind us why YANA exists—to support Paradise Valley residents so they can live independently with confidence and care. Patricia's quick thinking, compassion, and dedication truly made a difference for this resident and her family. Thank you, Patricia—you're a true community saint and a shining example of the impact our volunteers make every day! 💙🙏 #CommunityFirst#VolunteerSpotlight#YANA#ParadiseValleyAZ

This week, Paradise Valley PD took to the skies—literally! 🚀✈️ We hosted an intensive training course focused on preparing public safety personnel to safely and legally operate Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) by earning their FAA Part 107 certification. The dedicated instructors from GenPac delivered comprehensive instruction covering FAA regulations, airspace rules, weather effects, drone operations, emergency procedures, and more followed by hands-on flight practice to build real confidence and skill. This training equips officers and first responders with the essential knowledge and practical experience needed to pass the FAA exam and integrate UAS into daily operations—boosting situational awareness, supporting search & rescue, documenting incidents, and enhancing overall response capabilities. Shoutout to every participant who put in the work and soared through the sessions! And massive thanks to our instructors for guiding the way. Proud to help build the next generation of certified drone operators in public safety. The future is airborne!

Our hearts are heavy following the loss of two @azdps troopers, a helicopter pilot and a trooper paramedic, who were killed in the line of duty while assisting another agency last night. Their willingness to serve others, even in the most dangerous circumstances, embodies the very best of public service. To our brothers and sisters at the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the family and to the loved ones of these troopers: please know that our department stands with you in grief and in solidarity. We honor their courage, their service, and the sacrifice they made in service to others.

Coffee with a Cop: In recognition of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, this month’s Coffee with a Cop featured an important presentation by Stacey Sutherland from the Arizona Anti-Trafficking Network (AATN). Stacey shared valuable insights on human trafficking, including the challenges victims face, relevant laws, key indicators to watch for, and how this crime can affect anyone—regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status. She emphasized practical steps community members can take to protect their families and loved ones, and highlighted the support programs AATN provides to survivors, along with the meaningful success stories from their work. Thank you to Stacey for the informative session and for providing helpful resources and pamphlets to everyone who attended. If you'd like to support survivors of human trafficking, please consider donating to AATN, a 501(c)(3) organization: aatn.org Join us next month at 8:30 AM here at the station for our next Coffee with a Cop, where our own Commander P. Beumler will go over the AZ Child and Abduction Response Team (CART).

The Paradise Valley Police Department is grateful for the coordinated efforts of regional law enforcement and fire partners that led to the safe recovery of a missing elderly woman on December 30, 2025. PVPD officers initially received a report of a missing elderly woman who was believed to be experiencing early signs of dementia and had not been seen for approximately 12 hours. Due to concerns for her safety, Paradise Valley Police immediately shared critical information with partner agencies to assist in locating her. Through collaborative efforts with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Buckeye Police Department, the woman’s vehicle was ultimately located off the roadway in a muddy field west of Buckeye. The vehicle had narrowly avoided an active canal after traveling a significant distance beyond a dead end. Arizona DPS troopers made contact with the woman and confirmed her identity. She was found disoriented and without shoes after becoming stuck in deep mud while attempting to locate a hospital. Troopers assisted her to a safe location, where Buckeye Fire Department personnel evaluated her and transported her to a local hospital. Paradise Valley Police Department notified the woman’s family, who were later reunited with her. “This outcome reflects the importance of immediate information sharing and strong partnerships,” said Chief Freeman Carney. “We’re thankful for the professionalism and compassion shown by every agency involved in ensuring this resident returned home safely.”

A workplace accident in Paradise Valley could have turned tragic. Officer Dan Arvidson quickly applied TraumaGel, stopping a life-threatening arterial bleed before paramedics arrived. Every PVPD officer is trained and equipped with TraumaGel, making us the first agency in Arizona to carry it department-wide. Being ready for the unexpected protects our community when time is critical. When the unexpected happens, we’re always ready. #PVPD #TraumaGel #LifeSaved #ArizonaLawEnforcement #SecondsMatter
