9 Years at @CNBCTV18News: A Journey That Started With a Rush 🚀
On 30th September 2016, I walked into CNBC-TV18 expecting a routine first day—signing forms, meeting colleagues, and settling in.
But destiny had other plans.
Before I could even complete my joining formalities, my Managing Editor @ShereenBhan called HR from Mumbai:
👉 “Release her immediately. She has to rush to cover the 2nd #GST Council Meeting at Parliament Annexe.”
No press card. No prep. Just a bag, a notebook, and years of policy reporting behind me. And just like that, I was covering one of India’s biggest economic reforms—GST—on Day 1.
And it didn’t stop there.
On Day 2, I was in front of the camera for the very first time 📹—covering the Income Declaration Scheme results. I broke the story hours before the official announcement, and the then @IncomeTaxIndia Chief Rani Singh Nair gave me her first-ever interview.
Two days in, and I was set to race in my already settled core areas: #GST & #incometax
The last 9 years have been an incredible ride—tracking policy shifts, breaking big developments, and telling stories that shape India’s business and economy. Moving out from my comfort of finance and taxes, retail & real estate to health, pharma, food safety, consumer & human interest stories.
The thrill hasn’t dimmed—it’s only grown.
Journalism, for me, continues to be a constant learning curve: fast, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
