Hanna Lake in #Balochistan has become the face of climate change in #Pakistan. Due to unstable weather patterns, it often dries up having a negative impact on the ecosystem in the area, especially on migratory birds.

⚠️Drizzle in a few parts of #Karachi due to the 4th extratropical storm. The same weather system was responsible for the torrential downpour along with heavy thunder, during the early hours of Saturday.

@Den_tallest Currently, there is no leakage. The Pak Gov has the tools to warn citizens if such an incident occurs etc. We can check it via AQI (but it wouldn't showcase toxicity from the Nuclear Plant, could be common dust particles as well). For direction, wind pattern is usually checked.

The U.S & #Israel have struck #Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. So far, there’s no indication of radiation leakage. However, attacks on nuclear sites 'could' risk spreading toxic materials across the region, #Pakistan included, especially with strong westerly winds.

⚠️The current large-scale extratropical storm (ETS) is likely to exit #Pakistan by Fri night. However, this month's 4th ETS will influence the country from Fri night/Sat morning till Sun/Mon. More rain systems are lined up in the coming days!

⚠️ Windy conditions again! The air is slightly cold, daytime temperature is only 25°C . In the coming days, temperatures can remain comfortable in #Karachi. With no heatwave in sight. In fact there is a possibility of more rain in days to come.

📰What sets the 18th March's storm apart? First, heavy rains & strong winds are not uncommon in March in #Karachi. But yesterday's weather had unusual stats in 'recent memory' (official stats); -Heaviest rain at 55 mm -Highest windspeed at 96 km/h -Lowest daytime temp at 27°C

The 'watch' for strong winds was in place on Wed/Thur as mentioned by PWP on March 17. However, we need to be honest, what unfolded in #Karachi was well beyond what numerical models showed. Probably the most severe windstorm in recent memory. Prayers for the 20 lives lost 🙏

@Den_tallest Yes, the intensity of it. May onwards rain forecast is uncertain right now.
