Maybe I was wrong in my initial assessment of FJORD. It didn’t seem all that complex to me but having since read many conflicting takes about its actual message and also been told on here that I didn’t understand the film at all (lol) I’m not so sure anymore. The discourse when it hits the autumn catch up festivals will be interesting!

I don't care much about Letterboxd reviews right after a film's premiere, but the ones about The Dreamed Adventure, which expressed an unjustified disregard and boredom, were particularly disheartening—especially after the inflated enthusiasm that La Bola Negra received.

Grisebach’s THE DREAMED ADVENTURE, deliberately slows the pace — yet with great skill — of a powerful borderland crime epic that is raw, poetic, and profoundly visceral. Radeva and Letifov radiate pure authenticity in front of the camera. A film pulsing with truth. #Cannes

THE DREAMED ADVENTURE: just like in WESTERN, and even though this is a very different story, there is a fascinating quality to Valeska Grisebach’s cinema: meticulous but subtle, with no fat, both in the storytelling and in the depiction of her characters. By the end you realise so much has been said about the community portrayed and its bleak everyday life and past. The lead is played by non-professional Yana Radeva, whose rich, commanding performance has put her among the frontrunners for best actress at this late stage of the competition. #Cannes2026
