Hon. Zvobgo Eddison Mudiwa, delivering a keynote address on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, underscored the constitutional foundation of Parliament’s authority. He emphasized that the authority vested in Parliament is not a matter of speculation or conjecture, but one of unassailable constitutional certainty. He noted that the Constitution expressly vests legislative power in Parliament as the representative body of the sovereign will of the people of Zimbabwe. Citing Section 117, he reminded participants that “The legislative authority of Zimbabwe is derived from the people and is vested in, and exercised in accordance with, this Constitution by the Legislature.” Hon. Zvobgo stressed that this profound trust, conferred by the people through the Constitution, forms the very foundation and wellspring of Parliament’s strength, legitimacy, and constitutional purpose

Stakeholders have lauded Parliament for its workshop initiatives, describing them as an important step forward in the review and analysis of existing laws. The workshop, convened by the Parliamentary Legal Committee and the Law Development Commission in Masvingo, brought together key members of the legal fraternity and academia. Participants noted that such engagements promote informed lawmaking, strengthen the legal framework, and ensure that legislation responds effectively to the country’s current and future needs.

For this #lawdegree I suffered, went through the most grueling moments of exam preps with some really difficult stuff such as criminal law. I almost lost my mind on several occasions like seriously black outs, BUT GOD!!!! Yahweh thank you for your goodness and mercy. I literally saw God holding my hand on certain exam instances when I could have easily missed the exam date thinking it was day after, or was just struggling to prepare for the exam. No wonder why they call us learned colleagues 😉. This is my Covid-19 baby! I finished in record 3 years. The only module that I repeated was a result of a system failure in the whole institution and we were forced to rewrite, for this success I thank God. Today I celebrate tenacity and the goodness and faithfulness of God! If you are pushing an academic programme or you are working on something hard, just know that I’m cheering you on.
