Congratulations to Sr. Libby Gialanella on being recognized in the Times Union Best of the Week. Libby is off to a great start this season. She scored her 100th career goal this past Saturday and is leading our team in goals and points. Libby is a Mercer University commit. 🦬🥍

After defeating Colonie in the Section 2 Class AAA championship last week, the Shaker girls’ basketball team is victorious versus Baldwinsville to win the regional championship and advance to the state semifinals. @ShakerBlueBison

Shaker 28 Colonie 16 Half Another @ShakerGirlsHoop bucket off an ORB. @MaliaJackson27 surprisingly has yet to score in this game, but real impact controlling the glass with contested rebounds at both ends. Tossed it to Aailay Powell, dump into @P_hoblock4 (@DartmouthWBB) who has once again been very active for 2 of her 7 in the frame ⬇️ Shaker led by as much as 17 late in the half before back-to-back Ali Payne jumpers, one of them a three, make it just close enough to feel attainable. But fair to say Shaker is a tough matchup for Colonie, and they’re a tough matchup for - well, pretty much anyone

Shaker 58 Colonie 45 Final Not unlike their regular season matchup… same song, different verse. Colonie showed signs and got within range after digging a big 1st half hole, but in the waning moments, Shaker made the back-breaking run. A 10-0 mid q4 surge was the knockout blow and put the highly anticipated @Sect2athletics Class AAA championship game to bed 🏆 @GiadaLanni1 had 15, @P_hoblock4 13 to lead four @ShakerGirlsHoop players in double figures. @Ella_trimarchi led the way in the books for @SCGirls_hoops with 12. Shaker 67 Albany 40 Final Shaker/Colonie for the third straight year in AAA… confirmed ✅ Top seed @ShakerGirlsHoop steadily separated thru the first 24 minutes, winning each of the first 3 quarters by at least 8, and coasted in to the finish to book a return visit on Saturday. @P_hoblock4 went for 16, @SofiaLanni 15, @GiadaLanni1 13 in the win. Shaker 65 Albany Academy 34 End q3 Now they’re just having fun with it. Bigs connect, @P_hoblock4 (@DartmouthWBB) shovels it to @MaliaJackson27 (2027), who finishes with the contact ⬇️ Academy found some rhythm offensively, so that’s good. Problem is their most success came running off Shaker makes. Shaker cannot miss. Probably shot 75% in that quarter - not exaggerating

Shaker 65 Albany 32 Final Not one that Shaker will necessarily hang in the Louvre, but can’t argue with the result. The Bison controlled play throughout & blew it open with a +14 3rd quarter to keep their record spotless in convincing fashion. Major balance in the books, all 5 @ShakerGirlsHoop starters at least 9 pts & @P_hoblock4 (@DartmouthWBB) led them with 13. Akarri Gaddy had a game high 14 for Albany. FRIDAY ✔️
