@EquinoxOLI You have a sense of ownership and responsibility. If there is a bug or feature that is driving you crazy, you can't blame the "vendor." It is up to you to engage the rest of the community and get it fixed.

@PailsSPARK Of course, library consortia have the advantage of potentially being able to draw on a much wider pool of expertise (and potential expertise). IOW, resource sharing doesn't need to be just about sharing an ILS or pooling money to buy databases! #ChatOpenS

#chatopens Regarding Q2, my question is more fundamental: how does one grow a developer? What kind of basic skills do you need?

@gmcharlt We can try a kind of "pilot" mentoring program. Find a small handful of candidates wh have the interest and set them up with an experienced mentor coder in the community.

@PailsSPARK As far as individuals go, learning about algorithmic thinking can be helpful; having opportunities to build stuff, no matter how small, can help as well... PROVIDED that helpful feedback is available. That kind of feedback can sometimes to hard to get. #ChatOpenS
