@yawn_really @JacCooper1 @EnglandRugby 100% true. Actually Ireland and England had two different philosophies against Spain. Ireland was something like the "next best 32" and England was more of a development team. Against Tier 2, both ideas could work I think, but it is hard to compare and measure progress in time

@PabloHerH @JacCooper1 @EnglandRugby The main issue with A teams is that the quality & experience will vary based on the priorities of the National squads. In the run up to a tournament, they may want to give the "next best 32" a run-out, whilst other times it will be development for recent U20 graduates.

@PabloHerH @yawn_really @EnglandRugby Agreed I think if Spain and Portugal etc were up for it, having a little mini run of games of our A team Vs both of them, or even Belgium etc would be cool

@yawn_really @JacCooper1 @EnglandRugby Having regular games against "A" teams would be mutually beneficial too: Tier 2 nations like Spain or Portugal can play against "Tier 1 players", so we can see where we really are and improve from there, and Tier 1 nations can test and develop players for their top teams
