@ronald_bovell @OliveOylLoves Adopted father. Whaler Joe basically raised Popeye as a paternal figure after his real pappy fled because of his at-birth ugliness. The blue-haired girl is his daughter Petunia, an aspiring marine biologist and Popeye's adoptive sister.

@AlienScientist0 Yeah, after his pappy abandoned him for his ugliness, Popeye found an adopted paternal figure in Whaler Joe. That has been a fact of the character since 1931, but it wasn't until 2020 that we finally got a look at Joe himself.

@LorcanHedgehog Now people can stop asking if Popeye is even in these strips. And if anyone wants to see the sailor himself on a more consistent basis, check "Olive & Popeye" on Thursdays and "Popeye" on Sundays, both found on Comics Kingdom. Because again, these are from the former's Tuesdays.

@DJLee317 @OliveOylLoves @OOCCouchGags Nah, Brutus is Bluto's younger brother in these comics. Bluto has a twin in his brother Burlo (who keeps himself clean-shaven to distinguish the two) and they have an older brother named Bruto (who's the most normal of the four and only has a mustache).

@MrMorale_Digitz @OliveOylLoves They're cousins, actually. Olive's only sibling is her older brother Castor. Strangely enough, her Wikipedia page states she has another brother named Crude Oyl, but I can find nothing more on that chestnut, so take that with a grain of salt.

@DiciOdie @LorcanHedgehog He appears sporadically, he appeared in the Valentine's day arc, but it's mostly about Olive, her friends and her family. (I also think the artist struggles with translating Popeye to their style without him losing his iconic look but that's just a personal theory lol)

He has an art degree, after all, and there's probably a character in the suporting cast with some writing experience for him to work with on such an endeavor.

@Brandon12787 @LorcanHedgehog @OOCCouchGags Yeah, most of these characters are some old-school pulls, Petunia being the exception. Both Cylinda and Sutra are from the old comics, with Cylinda being from the pre-Popeye days, while Mae is from a single old cartoon called "Never Kick a Woman".
