@welcomehomebldr @tinamarquis10 @plomerforco @saveelections I’m not convinced Superior is a good comparison. Population is just 13k vs 324k for BoCo. Median income is $126k vs $87k. Poverty rate is 4% vs 11%. It’s a relatively more homogenous population than BoCo. Data from datausa.io, from 2020.

Maybe this isn’t the right time to mess with election cycles that could put public education at risk. Let’s focus on increasing turnout in all years.

And how does Superior’s population compare to Boulder’s? Is it the right comparison to make? School board elections are so contentious right now.

In 2021, Superior showed virtually identical turnout in school board elections (31%) compared to Boulder (32%). @welcomehomebldr @tinamarquis10 @plomerforco @saveelections School board elections only happen in off years. To your point, we need a critical mass of voters participating in school board elections. 2E would reduce off year elections interest and voter turnout for school board could suffer.

@tinamarquis10 @plomerforco @saveelections A growing fraction of BVSD students are people of color, and their parents are disproportionately affected by having elections in odd years. That's certainly not good for those students.
