So, Brian Gutekunst declined Quay Walker's 5th-year option but picked up Lukas Vann Ness' 5th-year option. 🙄

The big difference is that one dysfunctional franchise gave up on Willis, while five teams have already given up on Ridder. While it's possible that he could be the next reclamation project, it would be crazy to expect that to happen.

On @WISCTV_News3 ~ Malik Willis gave the #Packers a wonderful insurance policy. Now, knowing Jordan Love missed games each of the last two years, they’re looking for Malik 2.0 — and hoping Desmond Ridder is their next reclamation project success. 📰: channel3000.com/news/top-stori… 📺:

The Jayden Reed extension is the first time that Brian Gutekunst was able to get a player to agree to even the slightest team-friendly second contract. Gutekunst typically pays top dollar even when the extension is signed many months before free agency.

Depth behind aging Josh Jacobs would be fine if MarShawn Lloyd could go more than 3 practices without getting hurt. But since he hasn't shown the ability to do that for the past 2 years, it's important for Brian Gutekunst to add a legit RB2 before the start of the regular season.

There's one huge difference between Trey Smack and Anders Carlson and Brayden Narveson - Smack was actually a really good kicker in college.

On @WISCTV_News3 ~ Despite enduring the oft-maddening inconsistency of a rookie kicker not once but twice, Brian Gutekunst is ready to ride the potential rollercoaster again after vet Brandon McManus' three playoff misses. Why? The #Packers GM explains: channel3000.com/news/top-stori…

Plenty of very talented kickers struggled as rookies and then went on to have great success with another team. That said, I really like Trey Smack. He just seems like a guy who's going to be good from the get-go.

I'd like to see Brian Gutekunst add a big tight end who can root out defenders at the line of scrimmage. Right now, the top two backups are more finesse than physical.

There's no question that getting edge Dani Dennis-Sutton in round 4 is good value. That said, it's fair to wonder why a player with his talent, measurables, and production in the Big 10 was still on the board at 120.🤔

Fifth-round pick Jager Burton just feels like a Packers' center. His vibe is very much Frank Winters, James Campen, Scott Wells, Evan Dietrich-Smith, and Corey Linsley.

For an offense that struggled all of last season to run the ball, the Packers are bringing back pretty much the same players and coaches. Whether that's an example of showing faith in your people or abject stupidity remains to be seen.

Depth at QB and RB is troubling, to say the least.

The Packers have less than a week to officially not pick up Lukas Van Ness' fifth-year option. Van Ness will be playing for his third defensive coordinator in four seasons in 2026.
