My feeling is that now it is "safe" to release the info that Epstein was really a sex trafficker as a side gig and was mainly an intelligence asset of Israel and the US, a big-time financial criminal on behalf of transnational capital (i would argue transnational organized crime disguised as transnational capital), and an arms trader because the people he was helping have stolen so much of America's wealth and have taken control over so much of the government. That is why even admitting the true breadth of the scandal and operation doesn't even seem to move the needle. Criminals are in charge and they run both parties, they have created the infrastructure for neo-feudalism enforced by technology and are herding us into the corral. The Key and the Playbook Let’s imagine another world, one where a group of Scots discover a previously unnoticed flaw in the walls of the prison surrounding them, a prison constructed long ago by a colonising, empire-building state we’ll call Angloland. The flaw is a hidden door marked “lawful escape route”; it first appeared decades before during a period of international bridge-building. Naturally, the state covered it up, disguising the prison as a comfortable, shared home - somewhere no one would ever think to escape. Imagine further that Angloland, with its 900-year record of calculated treachery, barely reacts when the group discovers the door and launches a Scottish movement to demand the right to use this lawful exit. Instead, it deploys familiar tactics: respected establishment figures, including Scots, loudly insist the escape route is a fantasy, a distraction from the only “honourable” option: negotiating an exit from a joint household which, conveniently, has no door at all. But the campaigners persist. They reject the “shared home” myth, insisting that it is a prison that Scots have the right to escape. Other Scots begin to recognise the bars and chains they were told did not exist. Word of an escape route spreads and, worse still for Angloland, a key to the door is found. To use it, all that’s needed now is recognition from the international authorities of Scotland’s right to access. The campaigners hire an international consultant, at great cost, to help secure this recognition and early steps gain some serious international traction. Now Angloland turns to its ancient playbook: bribery, blackmail or threats, whatever will induce the consultant to derail the Scots’ effort. Plans collapse. The consultant suddenly adopts a pro-colonial, “devolution” stance and prepares to announce this publicly and, in the process, to destroy the Scots’ credibility. The consultant is dissuaded from this course - with some difficulty - but the risk has become clear to the campaigners and they end the relationship. The consultant retaliates by reversing their previous arguments, attacking their former clients, and broadcasting accusations designed to destroy the campaigners’ reputations in the eyes of their fellow Scots. Did something like this happen recently? Events resembling these certainly took place but what lay behind them, who can say? The scenario described here is an allegory and the whys and the wherefores of the real events, pure speculation. Many would be surprised, however, if a certain state strongly resembling the fictional Angloland had suddenly abandoned its 900-year-old playbook of dirty tricks. If it did happen? Then it means the campaign for the right to access the escape route through international recognition is working. It means progress is real enough to provoke sabotage. That should boost the morale of the campaign’s supporters and strengthen the resolve of the campaigners. But even the possibility that an age-old pattern has just been repeated here should make any champion of Scottish freedom who re-published the attacks, who demanded that the campaigners, rather than the attacker, defend and explain themselves, slink off and hang their heads in shame.
