@Tristan_Young How do you value YOUR time? If it's a trip for work, the train allows you to offset some of the £25+/hr cost as you whip out your laptop. If it's leisure (with family) the train allows you to concentrate on them... I think I've found an answer it the question was for me!

For reference the diesel does 40mpg, and the electric car has a real-world range of 150 miles. And I've taken diesel at £2.15 a litre and elec at 50p a kWh.
