Advance Wars 2 (Re-Boot Camp)
Two lifetimes later, I've played the sequel. It RULES. Much better characterization and writing overall. The maps and tactics are leagues better. I will replay this game again someday. It is one of the best tactics games I have played. Lash BARK BARK

Advance Wars 1 (Re-Boot Camp) Neat game that (hopefully) is the foundation for an incredible sequel. It's pretty barebones and could use a lot more depth, but I've been told the sequel delivers that, so I'm excited to get to that eventually!

Sentimental Value (Movie)
Probably tied with No Other Choice as my favorite movie of 2025. At first, I was pretty impressed by it, but as time went on, and as I listened to Cannock Chase more, I fell harder and harder in love with this movie. A beautiful and healing film

UNFORTUNATELY only the first half is perfectly paced and executed. The second half is...fine. It feels very RE5/6 which I don't particularly care for. Colorless. Gray. Unnecessary fanservice. It's still enjoyable, but it's a VERY noticeable downgrade

Resident Evil Requiem (Game)
ALRIGHT...
The best original entry in RE since 4 imo. (loved 7 and 8!)
The first half of this game is near-flawless. Perfect. Grace's exploration segment is exceptional, and cleaning up after her with Leon is so rewarding.

Project: Hail Mary (Movie)
This will likely be a Best Picture nom so I want to throw my opinion out to reference it in a year.
First half of the movie is outrageously amazing. Loses some steam in the second half, but still a fun time. I don't trust people who don't like Sci-fi

Monster Hunter: Rise SUNBREAK
So...uh...skill issue. This DLC is HARD. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I actually played more of base Rise and got a better grip of MH before jumping into Sunbreak. Still had a good time, but not as much as base Rise.

Thanks to Leaf's request, I finally played my first MH game!!
Definitely a pretty big learning curve, but once it clicked, it felt sOOO good. Loved the aesthetic and the MUSICCC. The monsters are SO rad too. MAGNAMALO BABY...

Dark Souls 1
Getting this platinum had me learn this game inside and out, and it's such a remarkable game. I had issues with some areas when I first played, but on replays, I've come to understand the design decisions behind them. It's so hard to find bad in this game. I love it

I bought this thinking it’d be a romance, but it ended up being an aggressive examination of societal roles for women, loneliness, and self-doubt. I thoroughly enjoyed it even if it wasn’t what I expected!

The People We Meet on Vacation (Movie)
Solid romcom! I specifically want to give it a shout-out for showing that "settling" isn't some horrific act. "Settle" has become a buzzword for people who are chronically avoidant, and it agitates me when people are so fixated on it

I'm torn between Death Stranding 2 and Silksong as my GOTY. Silksong is one of the greatest games of all time. DS2 came into my life at the perfect time. I think in time I'll have a good idea which is my 2025 game.

My New Year's resolution for 2025 was to read five books. I ended up reading five TECHNICALLY, but one was an art book. Either way, I read four novels —including one 600-page book! I started reading late into the year, so I didn't make it, but that's okay! Progress! 🥰
