I was born at 2lb 12 oz. I still have the scar from the chest tube placed during my 4 month NICU stay. Family was told I may have significant cognitive delays. Who knew that this preemie one day would be off to train as a child neurologist #MedTwitter #Pediatrics #Motivation

My great-grandmother only had a 3rd grade education. My grandmother died at the age of 39 after having a massive heart attack. My mom, as a single mother, got her Masters & PhD in my lifetime. & today, I am a Stanford Pediatric resident. I am my ancestors wildest dreams🥺

Although the patient was a frequent flyer to hospitals, it was rare for her to see a Black physician in training as a member of her care team. She was rooting for my success, because of the bright future that young people of color could envision, just due to my presence.
