that’s the last of this unit of Persians painted. The unit together looks ok but I’m really not 100% if I want to paint more than the two units I have 🤷‍♂️ i’ll get them based up at the end of the week. may end up sticking with the Viking & Irish armies for Hail Caesar for now…..

@Oldwargamer Well at least that’s historical I suppose! I’ll finish this unit and see what I think, not 100% yet!

@PaintsDb They look good when all together for sure. Such a colourful army to paint, and they do look good in mass on the table, but they do struggle against the Macedonian pike.

More Persians painted tonight along with a picture of them all so far. They look ok all together, i think they’ll be fine once the whole unit is done. Also had my first issue with Windsor & Newton spray varnish misting up on a couple of the figures. Never happened before!

#Persian spear and bow protected by large wicker shields. They are on a hill for extra protection.

Had my first go at painting Persians tonight. I’m really not sure myself, I’ve got another 10 to paint this week to get the first unit done and i think I’ll wait until they’re all together and based before I decide if I like them or not!!

Another box of wargames Atlantic Irish assembled. looked at the Irish I have and thought it wouldn’t take much to expand it from pillage to Hail Caesar well it turns out that I need a lot more! Never mind, it’s always good to have at least 3 projects on the go at once!

@RalphBuick44 Just had a quick search, that’s an expensive book - £70+ second hand!

@PaintsDb The book you really need is the Montvert book by Duncan Head.

A little reading on the Persians in preparation for painting the first of them next week! I’ve got a grand total of 40 to paint so far but suspect I’ll need a lot more…..

@Kaffeesaurus Thank you! Yes, victrix are like that. I’m looking to use them for hail Caesar 2nd edition with seems to be a little more forgiving on how the miniatures look. I’ll get the first unit painted next week with any luck then take a look at some victrix figures in a couple of weeks.

@PaintsDb Oh perfect! :D The Victrix kits are also all either armoured or unarmoured and not mixed like the WGA kit. Another thing to keep in mind if this makes a difference for what you want to use em for. Looking forward to seeing more 👍
