Pakistan at the UN Security Council As an elected member of the UN Security Council (2025-26), Pakistan brought its principled voice, diplomatic experience, and steadfast and unwavering commitment to multilateralism. Guided by the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founding father, and the ideals of peace, dialogue, and international law, we consistently advocated the peaceful resolution of disputes, equitable and democratic reform of the United Nations, and the upholding of the principles and purposes of the UN Charter. A recap of Pakistan’s participation in the UN Security Council in 2025

Africa Day celebrates the collective wisdom, resilience, and immense potential of the African continent. It stands as a powerful reminder of how nations and peoples, through unwavering determination and unity, overcame the injustices of colonialism and slavery to shape their own destiny and chart a path toward progress and prosperity. Since its establishment, the African Union has also been a strong champion of multilateralism, with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter at its core. Pakistan remains committed to working closely with the African countries for a better and prosperous future of the people of the continent, and for fostering peace and development in the region.

Our colleague, Saima Saleem, effectively called out India for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism whose terror franchise has gone global. India’s sponsorship of terrorism against Pakistan is not an abstract notion; rather, it has exacted a massive human cost. The TTP, BLA, and Majeed Brigade — terrorist proxies supported by India — have been involved in the killing of thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children, in our mosques, markets, schools, and streets through networks financed, facilitated, and operated from Afghan soil, something that the reports of the UNSC Monitoring Team have laid bare.
Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN@PakistanUN_NY

India is a country that exports terrorism abroad, occupies people by force, persecutes minorities at home, weaponizes water, commits aggression in the region, and then tries to lecture others on the protection of civilians. While Pakistan stands for peace, dialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes and adherence to international law, India stands exposed by terrorism, occupation, aggression, repression and disregard for international law. Counsellor Saima Saleem responds to remarks of the Indian representative during the Security Council Annual Debate on the Protection of Civilians Please listen to the Right of Reply (RoR) by Pakistan below

Today, the UN General Assembly adopted with consensus the resolution “promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace” proposed by Pakistan and the Philippines under plenary agenda item Culture of Peace. The consensual adoption of the resolution sends a strong signal of international community’s unanimous rejection of xenophobia, intolerance and discrimination. It is also a vivid recognition of Pakistan’s longstanding efforts for peaceful coexistence, interfaith harmony and, international peace and tranquility. Grateful to the co-sponsors and a wide UN membership for their unstinted support for the resolution

Proud to present the Pakistan-made “Trionda” football during today’s friendly matches among UN diplomats, held in celebration of upcoming International Football Day 2026 and the FIFA World Cup. With world-class footballs produced in Sialkot, Pakistan continues to play a central role in the world’s most beloved sport. For decades, Pakistani craftsmanship has powered major global sporting events, underscoring Pakistan’s internationally recognized status as a leading manufacturer of FIFA-quality footballs. Greatly proud of our football makers, who continue to bring laurels to the country through their exceptional craftsmanship and excellence in the art of football-making.

Let me emphasize that dialogue and diplomacy, consistent with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, remain the only viable path toward de-escalation and lasting peace and stability in the West Asia and the Middle East. It is in this context that Pakistan has been making sincere efforts to facilitate diplomatic engagement between the concerned parities – and we thank the parties and all our partners, as well as the UN Secretary-General for supporting these efforts. Pakistan will continue to play its constructive role to facilitate dialogue between the parties for a fruitful outcome.

The unacceptable drone attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and against the UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant are yet another reminder of the imperative to definitively stop the ongoing tensions and confrontation in the region. Pakistan calls upon all parties to exercise maximum restraint, fulfil their obligations under international law and international humanitarian law, and avoid any actions that could further escalate tensions with consequences extending far beyond the region.

In the Security Council today, Pakistan strongly condemned the drone attacks on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates on May 17 as well as against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with the governments and the brotherly peoples of the UAE and KSA in the wake of these heinous attacks and reiterates its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all friendly countries of the region. We believe that any and all targeting of nuclear facilities constitutes a grave violation of international law, including international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and the fundamental principles of nuclear safety and security enshrined in the Statute and various resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Countries with no direct involvement in the crisis in West Asia are bearing the brunt. Pakistan is among the countries most severely affected by the ongoing conflict. With a heavy reliance on energy supplies from the region, recent disruptions have led to abrupt fuel shortages, soaring prices, and mounting inflationary pressures on millions of households. Investments in and the growth of Pakistan’s solar sector have helped mitigate the energy shock. However, the consequences go far beyond energy and carry grave implications for food security.
Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN@PakistanUN_NY

Consequences of the recent disruptions to global energy and supply flows are reverberating across every region and every economy. The human cost is staggering and still mounting. Global fuel prices have more than doubled above the 2025 average, and 32 million additional people risk being pushed into poverty. Across the developing world, governments are being compelled to implement austerity measures precisely when their populations need protection the most. If the situation persists, it will impact growth and lead to widespread and long term economic hardship. Statement by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, at ECOSOC Special Meeting on Safeguarding Energy and Supply Flows

As our Palestinian brethren mark the 78th solemn anniversary of Nakba, we remember the enduring suffering and displacement of the Palestinians from their homeland since 1948. On this solemn occasion, Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. We demand an immediate end to the oppression, occupation, and violence being perpetrated by Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinians. Pakistan also reaffirms its resolute support for the creation of a sovereign, independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian State based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Support for Palestine is etched in Pakistan’s own independence struggle. Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine and their just struggle for self-determination, freedom, and dignity. On the solemn anniversary of the Nakba, remembrance alone is not enough. The Nakba must not be allowed to continue into another generation. It must end through justice, accountability, and vacation of occupation.

In the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, illegal settlement expansion, settler violence, forced displacement, arbitrary restrictions and collective punishment continue unabated. The condemnable storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists is the most recent manifestation of the policy, where illegality and nefarious objectives are evident to alter the demographic and geographic character of the occupied Palestinian territory and to make Palestinian existence on their own land increasingly untenable.

Tragically, for the Palestinians, the Nakba is not a closed chapter of history. It is a continuing reality marked by occupation, displacement, dispossession and denial of rights. The Right of Return of Palestinian refugees, affirmed in Resolution 194, remains unfulfilled. Millions of Palestinians continue to live in exile and denied the right to return to their homes. Refugee camps that were meant to be temporary have become symbols of prolonged statelessness and collective suffering.

On this solemn anniversary of the Nakba, we remember the forced displacement of more than 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and ancestral lands in 1948. For generations, Palestinian families have endured exile, denied the right to return and confronted with efforts to erase their history and identity. Remembering this painful chapter is not only a recognition of historical truth, but also a reaffirmation of the urgent need for justice, dignity, and a lasting peace. Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine and their just struggle for self-determination, freedom, and dignity. The only viable path to a just and durable peace is the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, through the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian State on the basis of the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. @Palestine_UN

Pakistan has voiced serious concern at the United Nations over what it described as Israel’s ongoing and systematic annexation of the occupied West Bank, warning that expanding settlements and the forced displacement of Palestinians are threatening prospects for a viable Palestinian state. thediplomaticinsight.com/pakistan-warns… #israeli #pakistan #westbank #thediplomaticinsight @PakistanUN_NY

Marka-e-Haq reaffirmed that peace in South Asia cannot be built on denial, occupation or coercion. A just and lasting solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, remains essential for durable regional peace and stability.
