Their submissions add to the growing number of states engaging with the legal process underway in The Hague since 🇿🇦 initiated the case in December 2023, drawing sustained international attention to the humanitarian and legal dimensions of Israel's genocidal war against Gaza.

Iceland and Netherlands exercised their right as parties to the Genocide Convention to participate in proceedings related to the interpretation of the treaty by submitting declarations of intervention to the Court concerning violations of the Genocide Convention in Gaza.

Two additional countries have joined South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

The reception provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, share perspectives, and deepen collaboration in addressing the humanitarian challenges facing vulnerable communities. #FreePalestine #EndTheOccupation

The evening brought together members of the diplomatic corps, friends of UNHCR and representatives of UN agencies, including Mr Nelson Muffuh, UN Resident Coordinator in 🇿🇦, alongside other speakers & partners committed to supporting refugees, displaced persons, & asylum seekers.

An evening of dialogue and reflection brought together diplomats, humanitarian partners, and United Nations representatives in Pretoria as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) hosted a special Ramadan Iftar reception.

South African women played a vital role in defeating the apartheid system and remain a powerful symbol of courage, resilience, and inspiration for people around the world who continue to struggle against racism and discrimination.
