The foundation of a strong country starts with its mothers. 🇰🇪 Healthy mothers lead to healthy families, which ultimately builds a healthy and prosperous Nation. Investing in maternal health is an investment in our future. 🤱✨ #ProtectLifeProtectHealth #AllLivesMatter

Story by Gabriel Itote, Citizen Journalist Data from the @KilifiCountyGov County Department of Health paints a very worrying picture. In the year 2024/25, there were 55 suicide cases reported in the county, with over 80% of them involving men. The figures highlight a silent crisis of mental health struggles among men, and calls for urgent attention, awareness, and community-driven solutions. #SemaUkweli

Story by Geoffrey Palmer, Citizen Journalist Mkokoteni operators staged protests in Naivasha Town recently, accusing county enforcement officers of constantly harassing them and confiscating their goods, despite the fact that they pay rates to the county government. The traders said the frequent crackdowns have disrupted their businesses and livelihoods, prompting their demands for fair treatment from the county authorities. #SemaUkweli

Story by Faith Lumwachi, Citizen Journalist. The government touts its affordable housing project as a successful scheme to improve the lives of Kenyans previously living in squalor. But according to some hapless individuals, they are having to pay a heavy cost due to the inhumane evictions and unfulfilled promises of support by the government. The vulnerable residents of Mukuru kwa Njenga talked to us about the destruction of property, livelihoods, and even deaths that have resulted from the ongoing implementation of the housing project in the Riara area. #SemaUkweli

Story by Geoffrey Palmer, Citizen Journalist. Claims citing favouritism in the distribution of bursary funds have been leveled against the Naivasha MP, Jayne Kihara. Residents say the process lacks transparency and raises questions about how selection is done, since needy students don't seem to benefit. Should MPs continue to manage bursary funds or should the government send the money directly to schools? #SemaUkweli

This is Korosho Secondary School in Kilifi County, where many families struggle to keep their kids in school, hoping that they will be the ones to break generational cycles of poverty. On Monday, 26th January, however, this hope was dashed for several students expected to complete their final year of high school this year, after they were sent home for lacking school fees. To make matters worse, the principal of the school is alleged to have earlier denied students time off to go fill some bursary forms. Following on from the recent debacle of over 800,000 junior secondary students failing to join school due to lack of fees, the sending home of students set to finish high school this year is certain to be the next scandal hitting the education sector. The travesty being visited upon Kenyan children by an incompetent and insensitive government must be condemned by everyone who cares about the future of these vulnerable youth. The hapless students now languishing at home and watching their dreams fade with each passing day are now calling on their leaders to act decisively so that they can continue with their education. Parents of students at Korosho Secondary are asking Kilifi North MP, Owen Baya, what the bursary fund is for if their children cannot benefit from it. How is your MP managing the constituency bursary fund? #SemaUkweli

Story by Geoffrey Palmer, Citizen Journalist. In Lakeview, Naivasha raw sewage is flowing freely outside homes of tenants and out onto a public road, creating a high risk of people contracting diseases such as cholera, diaorrhea, and other infections. Children are the most affected because they like playing outside but the foul smell is also unbearable for people living in the neighbourhood. NEMA and county government officials are sleeping on the job. #SemaUkweli

Story by Faith Omari, Citizen Journalist. A young man lures his neighbour's 5-year-old daughter to his home, proceeds to rape and strangle her to death, and then attempts to dispose of her body in a pit latrine. His reason for doing so? He's interested in the girl's mother and thinks he can get close to her when he goes to console her about the missing daughter. The evidence against the suspect is overwhelming, yet the case has been dragging on since 2017. Meanwhile, the victim's mother alleges that the suspect's family has been harassing and threatening her because she continues to seek justice for her innocent child. Her simple question to the judiciary is how much longer will she have to wait before justice is finally done and she can finally be at peace? #SemaUkweli
