These operations were carried out during what has been, so far, the hottest day of the year, creating extremely challenging working conditions for all responders on scene.

Crews operated for several hours performing interior fire attack operations, establishing a water supply, and conducting aerial operations including ventilation and aerial master stream operations.

Yesterday, 5/19/26 at 4:42 PM, the Palmer Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Monson Fire Department with a structure fire at 430 Lower Hampden Road. Chief 162 and Tower 161 responded to the scene to provide mutual aid assistance.

The Palmer Fire Department would like to thank the Monson Fire Department for their mutual aid assistance and continued partnership during emergency incidents.

A second patient was transported by Monson Fire to the helicopter landing zone at Baystate Wing Hospital, where Life Flight transported patient to Baystate Medical Center.

Yesterday, at approximately 11:27 a.m. on May 19, 2026, the Palmer Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash in the area of Thorndike Street and Forest Hills Drive.

Early this morning, Palmer Fire Department EMTs and Paramedics assisted in a field delivery of a healthy baby boy in Palmer. Congrats to the parents and family! Crew: EMT Richard Knorring, Paramedic Grace Leone-Forgette, Paramedic Joshua Rutola, and Paramedic Michael Frydryk.

Be advised, the westbound lane of the Massachusetts Turnpike is closed at MM 60.7 due to a serious motor vehicle accident. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

As a Certified Paramedic, Michael’s experience and leadership will be a valuable asset as Palmer Fire continues its ALS (Advanced Life Support) service.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Fire & Rescue Executive Leadership and a Bachelor’s in Fire Administration, with extensive expertise in hazardous materials.

We’re excited to welcome Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Minahan to the Palmer Fire Department. Michael brings 15 years of fire service experience and is an active member of the Western Massachusetts Regional Technical Rescue Team.

Palmer Fire would like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year. Effective at 8:00 a.m. this morning, we are proud to announce that Palmer Fire is now operating at the Advanced Life Support Paramedic level.

At 08:16 the Palmer Fire Department was dispatched to Pine Street for the report of a structure fire. Fire is currently extinguished and crews are overhauling the two family structure. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Three Rivers Fire is currently covering the Town Of Palmer for any other emergencies. No injuries occurred in this incident.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and remain on scene for overhaul and clean up operations. The westbound lane remains closed at this time. Crews from Bondsville, Brimfield, Warren, Ware and Sturbridge Fire were called in to assist with water supply and manpower.

At 15:28 the Palmer Fire Department was dispatched to the Massachusetts Turnpike MM 64.4 Westbound for the tractor trailer MVA. Crews arrived on scene finding two tractor trailers that had struck one another resulting in a fire.
