Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

I am in the Lyme Heart of Darkness here in SE New England, and I almost never get ticks on me when I walk through the woods.
You can kinda tell where they'll be and just avoid those places.
Basically, if it's grassy, avoid. Marshgrass, lol. Thorny or open grove, you're fine.

Tics are insane. They have a long life cycle often years. They aren’t partial to any type of host, they’ll attach to birds, reptiles, and mammals. Birds are a primary mechanism for tick range expansion, young ticks attaching and releasing during seasonal migrations. They are very tolerant to both weather and temperature conditions. Expanding ranges means there are now more species active for longer periods of the year. Some are even active during the winter. All of the species are gaining territory, most states now have five different species, all states have at least two. It makes any eradication efforts difficult because they’re so adaptable.
