The coach of the Notre Dame football team, which defeated Georgia in their 12th consecutive win at the Sugar Bowl advancing to the semi-finals, Marcus Freeman, is a convert to Catholicism who reinstated the tradition of the Notre Dame football team attending Mass before games, which had been discontinued under the previous coach.
