contrast this with how 90% of the time nobody even know the supreme court is hearing a new case until every decision has already been made (bought and paid for) the ideology required to think this system is MORE democratic is scary

the only thing not up for debate in the ussr was the top-level leadership of the cpsu and the fact that socialism would be the governing ideology. *literally* everything else was ruthlessly deliberated on, critiqued, revised by popular input at every level from city to national.
