It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Buddy, the Biggest Alligator in Gatorland history. At 13’ 8” and almost 1,000 pounds, Buddy barely “edged out” ol’ Chester as the Biggest Gator at Gatorland a few years ago. Buddy wasn’t just big, he was a legend. A real Florida OG (Original Gator). Generations of families grew up with Buddy and kept coming back to see the Big Guy! Over the last few months, Buddy began to slow down and show his age. We had our Vet Dr James Bogan checking in on him regularly. He was on and off medication, getting extra vitamins, and we did everything we could to keep him comfortable. Those cold snaps this year certainly didn’t make things any easier on him. Our team here at Gatorland would find him early every morning to make sure he was ok. But in the end, even legends have to take that walk over the rainbow bridge. Buddy was comfortable, peaceful, and surrounded by love right up until his very last moments. Over the years, Buddy touched the hearts of every one at the park and was loved by millions on our social media. He and Brandon had a special relationship. Buddy helped shape Gatorland into what it is today. He made people fall in love with alligators… and if you ever saw him, you know exactly what I mean. There will never be another Buddy. Thank y’all for loving him with us. ❤️🐊
