Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3

@docdai My learning from 27 yrs in NHS - we are all minuscule cogs in a giant machine. A day after you finish someone else replaces you and you are not missed. Do your job well and sincerely but remember there are ppl in your life - who are more imp. Don’t take ur job in NHS 2 seriously

Solidarity with my English friends and colleagues today #JuniorDoctorsStrike demanding better pay, better working conditions, fighting for the health service and patient care. Stand your ground!

It’s an excellent programme.Another very under represented group in senior leadership roles in HB & royal colleges who needs this initiative, support & mentorship are BAME docs. Hope the RCP or CTM will consider that. @RCPWales @ctmemg @Parbzz

Never regretted doing this and I couldn’t recommend it enough. It gives you confidence, a network, strong mentorship. I never would have applied for my AMD job if I hadn’t taken part in this…..do it girls!

When I started my thesis around frailty in undergrad Med Ed I came across a paper by @SearleDoc & @Krockdoc that shaped my work. Here a few years on, @GraceInvaders & I share some thoughts on why frailty is so challenging to teach and learn about. link.springer.com/article/10.142…

@MikeStone2_EoL As a geriatrician I think the same principles apply in EOLC and future care planning to a certain degree

@MikeStone2_EoL Having recently completed a "birth plan" I can tell you it's nice to have your values and preferences written down following discussions. Not every eventuality can be accounted for. Still important to voice/write down your views though for when you can't articulate them later!

So incredibly grateful to @CV_UHB emergency dept for seeing, assessing, treating and discharging my Gran all within 5h last night. She was reluctant to attend (82, hearing impaired, English 2nd language) but she was so impressed with the care. Thank you so much to the ED staff

@DonnaPace01 @CwmTafMorgannwg @NurseGregDix @CTMUHB_AHS Wish her all the best from me! She'll be missed x
