reading some of the responses to this tweet both pro- & con- makes me realize that, though the "transgender issue" has been exploited by rightwing media for political purposes, it is also a very real issue for many & arouses strong feelings. for those who are seriously, personally impacted by the situation I feel sympathy & am sorry if I had approached the obviously complex issue from a more or less purely political perspective, in the aftermath of the election. an issue which Democrats will need to address hopefully in conversation & not unilaterally dismissive of individual perspectives. some sort of compromise of violently opposed points of view must be attempted at least.
