Egypt is set to overtake South Africa to become Africa's largest producer of electricity following new solar power plants and wind farms.
Egypt had an installed power capacity of 61,200 MW in 2025, and plans to add 2,500MW in 2026.
South Africa has an installed power generation capacity of 62,700 MW.
