The abrupt cancellation of U.S. rotational deployments to #Poland will go down in history as one of the worst political decisions of the Trump administration. Numbers matter, but most of all, blindsiding the most trusted and loyal US ally in @NATO simply makes no sense. Cui bono?

@ATrue77751990 @krassenstein Listen man, come on, please. Come to Jesus. The man can still be telling the truth even though he did wicked things. Musk and Trump did enough evil like scamming, bribing and market manipulation that they should be looked into.

@txgermanbre Oh, I am not denying any of that and actually think integration with Germany was the most important element of our success. Anyways, I am a proud Euro and hoping we will soon become a net contributor to EU. For me, it will be the final stamp of quality.

Fair point on per capita, and absorption efficiency is real. Poland used funds better than Greece or southern Italy did. But ‘efficient use’ and ‘funds drove growth’ aren’t alternatives, they’re complements. At peak absorption, EU money financed 55-61% of Polish public investment. The roads, rail, water systems, and university infrastructure of the last 20 years are largely EU-built. The Polish growth story is institutions plus capital transfers plus single market access plus German supply chain integration. Take out any one layer and the model collapses. Crediting only the ‘mindset’ part skips the structural scaffolding and that’s one of my criticisms. It was a multi country effort not just efficiency

@CDzwoni Nikt w to nie uwierzy. Za mało żeśmy sprzętu zamówili? Prześladujemy amerykańskie firmy? Przypomnij, kogo wybraliśmy na podwykonawcę CPK? Prześladujemy ich w okolicach Rzeszowa? Czym ich tak uraziliśmy? To wszystko to amerykański prezydent w tej chwili.

@PeterFreit35313 @PUB_001 @Glenn_Diesen What does that have to do with my retort to your statement? This particular fact is questionable at best. Imagine New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland being occupied. Should USA hold an election then?

After today's attack on Moscow, I am convinced that a Russian retaliation against NATO is coming: - Ukraine has the right to strike Russia, but this was also a NATO attack. Russia has now every right to strike NATO. Absolute madness.

@Glenn_Diesen Ukraine has no right to strike Russia! What makes you say something like this. Always remember it wasn’t Russia who started this war. This war was started by Ukraine with massive help from NATO, USA, UK, EU.

In the context that Ukraine is at war with Russia, it has a legal right to do so, at least that's the western interpretation. I agree with you, that there are no moral or ethical grounds for Ukraine to hit Moscov. It makes me wonder, that Ukraine was so fast to take the sole responsibility for the attack, that alone makes direct NATO involvement more likely.

@D_Tarczynski @TRobinsonNewEra I really don't get it. What's the end goal here? If they are going to win, the logical thing is to close the borders for you. Why would you support it then? That's the crazy part for me. You're pretend friends but you politics say you can't be.

@TrustlessState Oh yeah, clearly displayed by your Scammer in Chief and his family. No incentive whatsoever. You know what would truly help? If Americans valued actual values instead of money. If those taking shortcuts and scamming would be ostracized instead of praised as "entrepreneurial".

@DanielSmidstrup The only winner in this race is Jensen Huang. He somehow convinced people that his depreciating asset is crucial and will not depreciate. So it's worth investing 20B in a datacentre today, only to invest 20B more in another 4 - 6 years to keep it relevant.

@acatovicx @DanielSmidstrup Europe has research and we can get onto it once it doesn't cost bajillion of dollara in inference and training. Things like Pruna should help, smaller models for robotics and dual use stuff are worthy of investing in. No sense setting fire to $B to compete in consumer tech.

@DanielSmidstrup Not even close to nothing. These are just foundational/infra AI labs. Don't even get me started on others. 1X (robotics). Pruna (model compression). Georgi (founder of llama.cpp) is Bulgarian. Cursor co-founders are Swedes. C'mon man!

@mark_k Brother, fear is one thing, realism is another. Inference is not getting cheaper, training cost is not going away. This is hype and unless there are breakthroughs around the corner your enthusiasm means nothing. It is going back in the box once we find out it's unsustainable.

AI denial is cope. You don’t have to like the hype. You don’t have to like the companies. But pretending this is just another tech fad? Come on. AI is not going back in the box. You’re not being brave by hating it. You’re just volunteering to be obsolete.

I don’t know why data centers have become this generations nuclear power. Unlike nuclear power, there is a 0% chance that a data center can lead to any sort of disaster scenario. This project in Utah is: - in an uninhabited area - bought and repurposed water already in use - is bringing its own power, so it won’t cost citizens anything It’s like being against building a nuclear power plant in the middle of Nevada, except there is no radioactive waste. No fall out. No risk of anything. It’s a big computer in the middle of nowhere, that is self sufficient in all resources. There are a million real problems in America. Data centers just aren’t one.
Quick Thoughts@lthlnkso

I think the big Utah data center is fine.
