Liberal democracy is the basis of legitimacy and self-determination. Other forms of democracy are curtailed to favor some class of people, be they Nationalist or Socialist. Thereby, severely limiting the people’s ability to choose their own representatives. This is the real difference between the liberal and illiberal left. That divide has been here since the German revolution.

Engaging with non liberal socialists is profoundly annoying most of the time because most of them categorically refuse to engage with left liberalism and insist it has no solutions completly refusing to engage with anything being said. I mostly talk with socialists who are better
