I pull up to any commission prepared to pay complexity fees etc. Most YCHs I’ve gotten do charge extra for tails wings ears etc and I don’t usually mind paying it. The only time I feel a little iffy about paying for them is when they are a premade toggle on the ych that isn’t shaped or drawn for me and is just recolored and might throw off my design If that makes sense?

Question for artists & commissioners: For YCHs, what are your thoughts on charging extra for features like wings, tails, horns, ears, tattoos, etc? I’ve seen some people say it’s fair because certain features take more time depending on the pose, while others feel it’s scummy or that YCH should always be a fixed price since it’s supposed to be quicker work. Where do you stand on this? And if you’re an artist, how do you personally price your YCHs? Personally, I see YCH as a faster workflow, but not always less work depending on the character. More complex designs can take significantly more time to adjust or redraw, so I understand why some artists charge extra for certain features. For me, I don’t charge for simpler things like horns, tails, or ears, but I do charge for more time consuming details like wings or heavy tattoos, especially if the pose makes them harder to draw.
