@historyinmemes Age may slow the body, but it can't stop determination. Józef Peruga is proving that it's never too late to chase a goal.

Poland’s oldest high school student fails the final exam once more—but still refuses to give up.
Poland’s oldest high school student, 86-year-old Józef Peruga, has become a national symbol of perseverance after repeatedly attempting the Matura, the country’s high school leaving exam. Born in 1939, his education was disrupted by World War II, and he spent part of his childhood in a German camp. After the war, he worked as a locksmith, bus driver, and factory worker before later returning to education for personal fulfillment.
While sitting the exam alongside much younger students, he has passed several oral subjects, including German and geography, but continues to struggle with the written math and Polish sections. Recent setbacks were made harder by vision problems following eye surgery, which affected his ability to complete the written tests. Despite this, his determination has earned widespread admiration, including recognition from the mayor of Kalisz, and he has expressed his intention to keep trying.

John F. Kennedy Jr. celebrating his graduation from Brown University in 1983.
In 1983, John F. Kennedy Jr. graduated from Brown University with a degree in American Studies. At 22 years old, he was already one of the most famous young men in the country, carrying the legacy of his father, President John F. Kennedy, and his mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
These candid graduation photos capture a rare, carefree moment as Kennedy Jr. laughs with friends and celebrates after commencement. Despite growing up in the public eye following his father’s assassination in 1963, he largely avoided politics during his early adult years.
Kennedy Jr. later earned a law degree from New York University and co-founded George magazine in 1995, a publication that merged politics and popular culture. Today, these images serve as a memorable snapshot of a young man who became one of the most recognizable public figures of the 1990s before his life was cut short in a plane crash in 1999.
