With rights comes responsibility. With authority comes duty. With truth comes morality. With love comes sacrifice. With Christ comes the cross. Not many people understand these things anymore.

This is the equivalent of a woman engaging in consensual sex outside of marriage, later regretting her choice, and then claiming it was rape. Webbon knew who the speakers were beforehand. He admits as much. His issue is the optics of the speaking order. Again, he admits as much. He took the deal, regrets how it played out, and now claims to be the victim.

How can this be a “pitfall of Protestantism” when she rejects all 5 of the Solas of the Reformation? If there are many ways, it is not by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Not to mention that this is in direct contradiction to Scripture alone. And she is definitely not seeking the glory of God alone. Yes, this is terrible theology. You got that much right, but it is NOT theology rooted in the principles of the Reformation.

@88mph121 @LizzieMarbach “it’s not in line with what the Church teaches” So you would admit there ARE divisions within the RCC? Not as unified as y’all like to claim, I suppose.

If you believe in baptismal regeneration, you should not have a “suggested donation” for baptisms.

@ThxTom90228 @LizzieMarbach Jesus set the precedent: “And proclaim as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts” (Matthew 10:7-9)

@LizzieMarbach It’s not just baptisms. Here in the Philippines, the priests charge for nearly everything. Even if it is a “suggestion,” it’s a very strong suggestion. That is why one of the largest land owners here in our town in the Philippines is a RC priest.

Skull of Mary Magdalene located in the Basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Saint-Baume, France. According to some Catholic traditions, Mary was buried by her friend Maximin, one of Jesus' 72 disciples, and was later discovered in 1272 during an excavation by Charles II. Various body parts ("relics") of her are said to be scattered all across the world, probably enough to make three whole skeletons ;)

𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐀 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐀 The Bible teaches that there is nothing more unique, more reliable, or more authoritative to defend the Christian faith than God’s written words. 2 Timothy 3:16-17: [16] All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. The word “complete” is from the Greek word ἄρτιος (artios) which conveys the idea of being complete, fully equipped, or perfect for a particular purpose. It suggests a state of readiness and adequacy, where 𝙉𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂 is lacking for the task at hand. This Greek word appears only here in the NT. The word “equipped” is from the Greek word ἐξηρτισμένος (exērtismenos) and is better rendered “having been fully equipped.” The verb "exartizó," ceom which this word is derived, conveys the idea of equipping or furnishing something completely, ensuring that it is 𝙁𝙐𝙇𝙇𝙔 𝙋𝙍𝙀𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙀𝘿 and ready for its intended purpose. This is the only use of this word in the entire NT. Here’s my question … is there a tradition the Bible speaks of that fully prepares believers, with nothing lacking, for every good work? Is there a teaching office or position within the church that has this unique wording in its descriptions? Of course not. That’s because Scripture is unique and possesses unparalleled authority. Jesus Himself always used Scripture to rebuke the Pharisees, even though He recognized that the Pharisees did possess some earthly authority (Matthew 23:2). However, the ultimate authority will always be the Word of God.

This statement reduces the pursuit of a wife to an almost absurd level. It reduces marriage from beautiful illustration of Christ and the Church to nothing more than a sexual pursuit, and it reduces the wife from helpmate to legally obtained conquest. But I suppose sensationalism gets the engagement, so there’s that.

“When a guy singles out a young woman in some romantic fashion, this means that one of two things is happening. Either he is trying to get her into bed dishonorably, or he is attempting to get her into bed honorably” (5 Paths to the Love of Your Life, p. 72).

If you’re arguing that “the Septuagint” or “the Dead Sea Scrolls,” both included certain books, and on that basis we must have those books in our Bibles today, then you have a big problem. Both “the Septuagint” and “the Dead Sea Scrolls” are mini-libraries — they include documents considered both scriptural and non-scriptural in their day.

For example, the Letter of Aristeas, 3rd and 4th Maccabees, the Ascension of Isaiah, the Testament of Job, the Life of Adam and Eve, the Psalms of Solomon, and the Assumption of Moses are all part of the Septuagint collections. The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, The Community Rule, recordings of the last words of Joseph, Judah, Levi, Naphtali, and Amram (the father of Moses) were amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls. Few (if any) of these books are considered scripture today by modern Christian or Jewish groups.

Both the Septuagint and the Dead Sea Scrolls are representative of ancient library collections — collections that contained scripture but that were not themselves wholly considered scripture. We today group them in these convenient categories with these helpful titles, but it is a misunderstanding to think of them as, or necessarily representative of, a single thing.

Do y’all ever get tired of taking tat verse out of context? The point Paul is making is completed in the next verse: “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” It is God who works in us. This is consistent with what he writes to the Galatians: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23) The Holy Spirit is who enables us to do good works AFTER we have been saved and sealed: “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14) Do you see that last part? We have a guarantee of our inheritance. There IS assurance of salvation.

@PastorKuyaDaddy @sola_chad Saint Paul really disagrees with you, he himself wasn't sure of his salvation till the time of his persecution, he even says work out your salvation with fear and trembling in the epistle to the Philippians

Yet another reason I’ll never be Catholic. Catholicism’s false gospel can’t even assure believers of their salvation. Meanwhile, from the mouth of Jesus: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.“ (John 5:24)

Those of us who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ have trouble understanding why someone would stay in a system that cannot give assurance of salvation. The reason they continue in that system is that RCs consider confidence in your eternal destination the sin of presumption. Therefore, in their system, doubt in your own salvation is not a cause for concern but actually becomes a virtue.
