Seems like there are plenty of Common Scoters turning up on inland water bodies today! Maybe there will be one on your patch? Good luck to all patch birders over the weekend, chance of an early Hirundine, Wheatear or Little Ringed Plover too! #PWC2026

@Fergley Ouch! That is a painful one! You never know though, it could easily shift those 500 or so meters towards your patch!

Awesome surprise this morning to see a Red-Flanked Blue Tail turn up virtually on the doorstop. Lifer #201. Only shame is that it was about 500m outside my #pwc2026 patch boundary 🫤 I’ll nab one of those 3 pointers one day!

After some very wet & muddy #Patchbirding visits recently it was nice to see some hazy sunshine for today’s after work walk, & wow, it was memorable !!! The Herring Gulls on Godinton Park started alarm calling & suddenly a WHITE STORK appeared overhead, thermalling with a Buzzard

Fab hr at Branston Island this eve. 3 Glossy Ibis, Blackwit nfy, before I found 7 tiny Geese. .. Superficially like Cackling Geese, at least 5 are hybrids, with 1 Barnacle and one purer looking mimina type parents? Great birds, presumably from the E. #patchbirding @Lincsbirding

Right, we are now back from our winter birding trip to Spain so we will be back to being more active on all our social media and the blog from now on. Hopefully all #PWC2026 birders have had a good start to February and picked up on some decent birding!
