Fraud alert! 2 incidents of 'Courier Fraud' reported. Elderly victims 'phoned by fraudster pretending to be fraud squad. Told to withdraw large sum of cash from bank and send it to investigators. If you receive call like this hang up. Wait for dialing tone and call police.

Between 18 & 31 Jan central heating oil was taken from an oil tank at an address near the B6265 in the Blazefield area. Thieves have been on to the same address twice. Quantity taken would have required a vehicle. If you have any info please call 101 and quote ref 12210049521

On 2nd Jan, near Darley, twenty 2yr old trees were cut down and removed without owners permission. This is theft. If you have any information about this; eg someone disposing of the trees, please contact PC820 Hickson on 07741 173 794

There has been a spate of dwelling burglaries in Harrogate area, none so far in Nidderdale. Typically occurring during evenings. Please remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. It is likely that burglars may carry out reconnaissance earlier in the day

Scam doing the rounds in Nidderdale. It has been reported that scammers are telephoning to ask for sponsorship for children's books at Dacre Braithwaite School. The school is NOT asking for sponsorship. DO NOT respond to this scam!

10.30am Tues 20th Oct. Old white van with ladders seen near Lofthouse. Two cleanly dressed men snooping around isolated property. Wearing tracksuit bottoms and trainers. One bearded. Does anyone have any info? A registration would be great! Call 101 quote ref 157 of 21st.

On Thu 15th Oct about 4.45pm a man and woman pretending they were from "Disability Service Centre" went to a house Summerbridge. After they had gone the elderly occupant discovered bank cards had been stolen. Any info about this? Call 101 and be ready to quote ref 514 of 15th

Overnight Tue 6 - Wed 7 Oct. Car (Hyundai) parked on Old Church Lane, up the hill from St Mary's estate was forcibly entered and items stolen. Door to car extensively damaged, may have been hit in collision as parked in unusual place. Any info? Call 101 quote ref 85 of 7th.

Scammers are purporting to be a PC Greenwood from West Yorkshire Police calling victims and asking them to call 101 to verify details, you are then talking to their associate but it appears to be real. The scammers then ask then to transfer money from one bank to another. Please

Overnight 7th-8th Aug burglar snuck into house near main road in Summerbridge. Bag stolen from hall, wallet taken and bag left at roadside. There are thieves around! Please remember your security; lock doors and windows at night!

On 21/04/20 NYP received a report about dogs which became ill after a walk near Pateley Bridge. They are thought to have consumed poison this is being investigated by Natural England. Nature of the poison and exact location are not known. Dog walkers are advised to be vigilant

Many locals have reported concerns about visitors from outside the area North Yorkshire Police have been using Twitter, Facebook, local radio and other media to broadcast the "Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save lives" message. There will be extra police patrols over the BH.
