Today, visited #Amritsar and chaired a comprehensive law & order review meeting with senior officers to assess emerging crime trends, strengthen preventive policing strategies, and further enhance public safety and security. During the visit, inaugurated the newly established Police Station at Mohkampura, developed under the Smart City Project, marking another significant step towards strengthening policing infrastructure and improving public service delivery in the holy city of Amritsar. In line with Punjab Police’s commitment to technology-driven policing, also inaugurated the e-Challan System in Commissionerate Police Amritsar to promote greater transparency, efficient traffic enforcement, and improved road safety. With this initiative, Amritsar becomes the fourth city in the state to implement automated e-Challans, after SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana. In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busts a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module, arrests five accused and recovers 8 sophisticated pistols along with live cartridges. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused were in contact with a foreign-based smuggler through virtual numbers. The module was receiving consignments of weapons and drugs via drones from across the border for further distribution to criminal elements in #Punjab. FIRs have been registered at PS Chheharta, #Amritsar. In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence, #Ferozepur busts a cross-border illegal arms trafficking module and arrested one accused, recovering five .30 bore Glock pistols along with four live cartridges. Preliminary investigation reveals that the recovered weapons were allegedly smuggled into #India through cross-border channels and intended for further distribution through the network. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway to uncover forward and backward linkages and identify all individuals associated with the module. @PunjabPoliceInd remains steadfast in its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms trafficking and cross-border smuggling.
