My Rajdeep Sardesai take. I am a Goan Saraswat Brahmin - a community that shares a love of fish with Norwegians. I have had fresh tuna, sardines, mackerel and halibut in Oslo, but they are no match for the bangda, anjal and paplet in amchigele Goa. We use vinegar and local masalas that Helle Lyng would never have tasted in Oslo. Come to Goa my daughter and you will see real fish. Food for thought. Shubhratri.

On Helle Lyng's questions at the press conference. My Shekhar Gupta 50-word edit. Journalists may ask tough questions we must stick to a proper syllabus. Instead of asking Hon'ble PM Modi and Amb Sibi George tough questions about UPI and Viksit Bharat, Ms Lyng chose to ask irrelevant questions. She must be re-educated in proper protocol. I offer her an internship at The Print.

So now even taxanes supply is under threat. If the authorities can’t ensure that stocks of non expensive essential life saving cancer drugs are restored, request them to atleast issue an official legal order that absolves medical oncologists from the legal liability of inferior treatments and outcomes thanks to national shortage of these drugs, coz while we would very much like saving lives, when that is not facilitated by the Government and the global situation, we would very much like to atleast save our @$$! @MoHFW_INDIA @PMOIndia @JPNadda

In oncology we say one size doesn’t fit all, but if there are any drugs that work in almost all cancers, they have to be platinum drugs especially Cisplatin and Carboplatin. The simplest, effective and cheapest drugs that have no replacement in several cancers are out of stock in most hospitals in India, leaving patients and families to suffer with no treatments even in curable cancers. The global supply chain has been massively impacted, so are the import rates and manufacturing rates. While capping prices of drugs is a welcome move, flexibility that is reviewed dynamically is the need of the hour, a 50% rise in capped price of a 200 rupees drug that is life saving should be accommodated as the cost of lives lost is going to be much more. Request @narendramodi @PMOIndia @JPNadda @MoHFW_INDIA @AmitShahOffice to resolve the situation ASAP

Going to try this. My non patient facing job restricts interaction with native Kannadigas. OTOH, the better half speaks semi fluent Kannada within 3 years of shifting to Luru!

In talking about this whole language issue. I learnt Kannada rather late in life. In Bengaluru, where one can get by perfectly well without it. I still made that effort. Now that I am running an MSME in Mysuru, the payoffs are obvious. My Kannada is not the best. But, I do have to talk to our workforce and give speeches to them. They know that I make grammatical errors. Some of them correct me gently and I learn. But they appreciate the fact that I make that effort to speak to them in their language. I think that effort is what matters.

The fall 1988 issue of intelligent systems review had a paper with me as co-author, then a ~21 year old Senior at Syracuse University, called "Making Robots Intelligent: Incorporating Al Techniques in Robotics"... Interesting to see that several things we wrote there held up over the past 38 years!

Airports are one of the few places where hierarchy gets publicly announced on a microphone 😄 ‘Business class passengers may board first’ Translation my brain hears: ‘People with more money and status, please come first. Everyone else wait’ 😂 And the funny part is, it’s not even about the 5 extra minutes of boarding. Humans are extremely sensitive to social ordering. Who gets called first, who gets priority, who waits, who stands in line. The brain is not reacting to the seat. It’s reacting to public ranking. And the real psychology starts after entering the aircraft. Economy passengers are deliberately made to walk through business class first. It’s basically a live social hierarchy parade. Airlines intentionally design that moment. You first see people lying flat with juice glasses while you continue walking deeper and deeper into the aircraft. Then suddenly a curtain appears like a symbolic border.

Lol. This is patently untrue. Force - ofcourse not. They’ll just get the degree from Private. Sagarika Ghose’s son is an ENT doctor. One of my immediate senior was son of vice Prime Minister of Mauritius. One of my junior’s father later became an MLA in Rajasthan. A lot of Billionaires in India are actually 2/3rd gen doctors - Dr Ranjan Pai, Dr Bollineini. Dr Devi Shetty comes from a family of construction and real estate magnates. Funnily enough - 4/6 docs I mentioned are from Manipal - like I said - they don’t grind for NEET for a govt medical college.

Hey Bob's Bar Bengaluru, why must customers key in their phone number and validate it via OTP before they can even place an order? A beer and a bite shouldn’t require surrendering personal data. The Government of India’s Department of Consumer Affairs has already advised businesses not to insist on mobile numbers as a mandatory precondition for sale or billing, and that such data should only be collected with express consent.
