Everyone I speak to is depressed this week about the future of their household budgets and the outlook. The government has truly screwed up the economy because they have forgotten that tax gets paid by people, not unions, policy decisions and interest groups. This will run beyond the next election unless they change direction soon.

JUST ANNOUNCED: I’ve stepped in again to freeze all TfL fares as the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit Londoners hard.  While people across the country face another hike in their rail fares, I'm not prepared to stand by and see Londoners face a similar hike.
