As the first reanalysis data become available, I think I can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that the March 2026 heatwave will go down as the most anomalously extreme heat event ever observed at any time of year in the southwestern U.S.

Every dollar earned below $184,500 a year has a Social Security tax of 12.4%. Everything after that cap is exempt. If we lift this cap on the wealthiest earners, Social Security would be fully funded till 2070. The cap should not exist.
ABC News@ABC

The trust funds for Social Security and Medicaid will run out of money in as little as 8 years, a shorter time frame than previously estimated, according to a report issued Wednesday by the programs' trustees. abcnews.link/r5kTy1r

I’d reposition it as insurance. An insurance policy has value whether you ever make a claim, as it protects against a worst case scenario. Just because a high earner might not get a payout doesn’t mean there’s no benefit from being protected if something goes wrong and their income/assets drop

Means testing is a bad idea, I think. For one SS already underpays people the more money they made and contributed so it's already a bad deal. But if you means test it and take away payments from people because they have other means, you're creating a real moral hazard because now you're punishing people for doing the right thing and ensuring their own retirement is funded.

@hey_mindi Please please donate to your local thrift stores - that will keep money in your communities. And, be sure and remove price tags.

Did you know Goodwill made $2.1 BILLION in revenue last year? They pay executives 6-figure salaries. They pay workers sometimes less than minimum wage via a legal loophole. They get their inventory donated for free then sell it back to the public. The thrift store for “poor people” is one of the most profitable nonprofits in the country.

@ChiMaria_ @elonmusk Haha brilliant! Avoid 45% taxes by giving away 100%! How can we stop these devilish tax avoiders?!

@elonmusk That’s a good one, Elon! It is also a good way for you to avoid taxes though. Hopefully, the money will go to different causes that can support mankind, not ones selected by your team so it can go around.

Btw, the proceeds of any legal victory in the OpenAI case will be donated to charity. I will in no way enrich myself.
