As a lover of the paranormal, I’ve always enjoyed listening to these strange and eerie tales. I collect and share them for two simple reasons. First, China has a history stretching back over 5,000 years, filled with countless unexplained legends from ancient texts and rural traditions. Second, over thousands of years, billions of people have lived and died on this land — yet almost no one remembers them or the extraordinary things they witnessed. In the vast sea of historical records, the supernatural experiences of ordinary people are rarely mentioned. So, I want to preserve these forgotten stories and share them in English with readers overseas — both as quiet entertainment and as a small act of cultural preservation. Have you ever heard a story from your family or hometown that no one can explain? I’d love to hear it in the replies if you feel like sharing 👇 👻

@SlappedHam Yeah, way creepier stuff. I’ve even performed the bowl-chopstick standing ritual in person—old Chinese way to check for spirits. Stood right up. No wind, no tricks.

Seven miles of asphalt cut through the dense canopy of Warren County, New Jersey, where the light rarely hits the pavement. Known as Shades of Death Road, this stretch earned its name long before modern tires touched it. In the 1800s, malaria-carrying insects from the low swamps claimed so many lives that locals began to fear the very air. As the years passed, the shadows grew darker with stories of bandits who fought over the spoils of their victims along the narrow passes. The history is punctuated by a chilling crime involving a woman who allegedly murdered her husband and buried his head on one side of the road while placing his body on the other. This sense of unease follows you toward Ghost Lake, where spectral pillars of white vapor are seen rising from the water like standing figures. Nearby, the Fairy Hole cave sits in silence, a place once tied to ancient folklore and whispers of witchcraft. Whether it was the plague, the murders, or the suffocating forest that gave the road its title, the atmosphere near Jenny Jump State Forest remains heavy with the weight of the past.

@maximumpain333 Same in 80s China — parents would say “We found you by the sea” or “picked you up from the trash.” A classic way to dodge the real question 😂

@Real_jaeflex That alley scene with the figure behind her is terrifying. The webtoon is excellent — highly recommend if you like slow psychological horror.

MIB (Man in black) filmed by surveillance camera in Anchorage, Alaska...🧐🤔 This footage was taken a few years ago and has been kept by the Anchorage police to investigate the disappearance of the young woman we see in the video. Only very recently this video appear online, possibly on purpose, in order to try to find out what happened from someone who saw this bizarre event.

ust dropped this one — my third uncle's real encounter in the Qinling depths still gives me chills every time I think about it. Have you (or your grandparents) ever heard a similar story from the old mountains in China? Drop it in the replies — I read every single one, and the scariest ones might get featured next. If it gave you goosebumps... like + repost to spread these forgotten tales before they're lost. 👁️🐂 #ChineseFolklore #GhostStories

@wired4wonder Just like Chinese pen fairy or plate fairy legends. You invite a spirit, but what comes is often a nearby malevolent ghost, not a benevolent one.

Prepare for a true story that will chill you to your core. Imagine it's Madrid, 1991. The Gutierrez Lazaro family is ordinary enough, but their lives are about to be shattered in a way they could never have predicted. It all starts with a simple, harmless-looking Ouija board session, a common teenage pastime. But for 16-year-old Estefania, this innocent game would become the catalyst for a nightmare. As Estefania and her friends gathered around the board, eager to connect with the other side, the atmosphere shifted. Whispers turned to gasps as the planchette began to move with a strange, unnatural force. The air grew cold, and a sense of unease filled the room. The girls felt as though they had unlocked something, something that should have remained hidden. Tragically, shortly after the Ouija board session, Estefania passed away in what doctors termed sudden and suspicious pulmonary asphyxia. But the real horror was yet to begin. After Estefania's death, the family home became a place of terrifying phenomena. They reported strange noises, objects moving on their own, and an overwhelming feeling of dread. Desperate for help, they called the Madrid police. When the police arrived at the apartment, they were met with a scene straight out of a horror movie. In an official police report that still exists to this day, officers documented witnessing a crucifix rotating on its own. They described a heavy wardrobe door flying open with such force that it nearly struck them. And perhaps most unsettlingly, they witnessed a slimy brown substance mysteriously appear on a table. These were trained, experienced police officers, not prone to exaggeration or superstition. Their official report, signed and filed, stands as tangible proof that something beyond our comprehension occurred in that ordinary Madrid apartment. The Vallecas Case remains an enigma, a haunting reminder that there are mysteries in this world that defy rational explanation. Was it the Ouija board that opened a portal to a world of spirits? Or was it something else entirely, some dark force that fed on the grief and fear of a grieving family?
