Tipped over Iowa center, causing fumble. Rose Bowl, there we* went.
Note: Gophs were we* then, before I found this occupation & ethics demanded fair-mindedness to all sports entities (except bleepin’ Duke).

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Brown family. Tom left a lasting legacy with the #Gophers, winning the Outland Trophy and leading Minnesota to a national championship in 1960.

I have even less respect for Mark Coyle than I did before he fired Frost, who won more national titles for the Gophers (four) than any coach not named Bernie Bierman (five). Maybe Coyle should focus on finding a football coach who can contend for a Big Ten title once in a while instead of always extending the middle-of-the-pack one he has.

Indiana has seen a 39% decline in girls basketball participation since 1999-2000. Why? It's complicated.
I spoke with a few coaches and players during state finals week. Here's what they said: indystar.com/story/sports/h…

@Patrick_Reusse I attended the NCCAA national women's BB tournament at Crown last Thursday. Ten teams playing on the same day. Went off without a hitch. Now that they've hosted that, it shouldn't be a problem!

Classic, hilarious and so sad (for readers) goodbye column from the great Scott Ostler.
The funniest sportswriter who ever lived. Full stop. 27-time California Sportswriter of the Year. I might be low on that number.
And a great guy.

I don’t know how exciting it will be for Gophers to spend a few nights in those modest dorms out there in the St. Bonifacius countryside?

As I suspected, this wasn’t a first for breaking out the “pagan babies” angle in a Strib column.
According to AI, there was suggestion in 2013 that Rick Spielman should have given $2+ million to a good cause — pagan babies — rather than Josh Freeman.

Major point here that is very accurate:
More than ever, listeners want hosts that fully share their fandom— and will almost always back the current popular opinion on home teams.
