In this round of football last year Josh Carmichael was chasing kicks for Merbein in the Sunraysia league. He kicked two goals. This weekend he'll debut for Collingwood. Have to love everything about his journey from the bush to the big league, hey @Patrickirwin10?

@BrentHodgson That solution doesn’t suit everyone and I guess can’t be everything to all but unless you live in country areas with no cases for over a year you don’t understand the frustration and lack of understanding. It’s obvious country areas are not taken into account.

@Patrickirwin10 We have locked down LGAs three times here in Australia.
2/3 times it didn’t work and spread escaped the net.
That’s the point of the map. It demonstrates how widely cases can spread in just 5 days.

@BrentHodgson Get the premise of your opinion but regional areas north of Bendigo don’t seem to matter. North west had 3 cases in 12 months half Mildura tested no spread. Maybe just lucky just feel there is a case for locking Dre is with me LGAs not whole state

@Patrickirwin10 If the level of precautions correlates with the level of complaints, I suspect there’s a high level of complacency.
Too late for Ring of Steel. PCCs will already be beyond the fence line
If it’s a long lockdown it’ll make sense once regional PCCs are cleared though.

@BrentHodgson We are not protected at all ghat is a myth. We have less population but just as@much interaction maybe we take greater precautions. Real protective measure is ring of steel

@Patrickirwin10 The reason regional has so little spread has more to do with the fact it’s protected than it’s immune.
There’s negligible difference between workplaces, schools and shops in Wang or Wodonga vs Point Cook or Cragieburn.

@BrentHodgson Regional Vic not in same league as metro. Not immune but data like this shows possibilities and some would argue spreading fear. Some places have had 0 or under 5 cases in a year. That is where regional Victoria gets frustrated

@jaimekristene @behrooz_hm 1. Red zone permits were on a different map. This was the 5177 primary close contacts (and 11 cases) in regional Victoria at the time. 2. Here’s the case data from the day it was released (19/7/21). Only 13 cases 3. It’s demonstrable of the scale & speed of Delta outbreaks.
