@DonEford "our finding suggests a comparable protective effect against severe infection in both NVX-CoV2373 and BNT162b2 vaccines". Looks like the data tables and supplementary are not included in the preprint, but they only had single digit severe infections in each arm.

@DonEford Very wide confidence intervals though! Difference in efficacy likely not significant - would need to see the raw data. Estimated risk of severe infection 1 in a million for Novavax, 2 in a million for Pfizer, but the study only included 3000 recipients for each?

It's really hard to get comparative data on Novavax vs mRNA on it's ability to protect you... But leave it to Korea to have an answer. They created a study that built a balanced cohort of a similar patient population who had received three shots of either vaccine. Both were extremely protective, but Novavax was TWICE as protective... Not using Novavax means twice as many people being harmed for no reason. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

@Teheimar They say it will only add to the confusion because we won't know where it is coming from.

We developed an assay for testing for H5N1 from wastewater over a year ago. (I wasn't expecting it in milk, but I figured it was going to poke up somewhere.) However, I was just on a call with the CDC and they are advising us NOT to use it. I need a drink.

@ATinyGreenCell The "suppressed" assembly page also contains contact info toward the bottom of the page - you could ask them why it was taken down, and whether there is a more authoritative version available: "Source DNA and bacteria available from Rebecca Parales (reparales@ucdavis.edu)"

@cisonaut @JusDayDa @Johnincarlisle @YouTube Not including these things in the paper is just shoddy science. This is likely why they were having such a hard time getting this published - because any reasonable reviewer would have asked for that kind of crucial data to be included in the paper.

Viral Vaccine paper youtu.be/IZAso_eLJLI via @YouTube Batch-dependent safety of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. From 1 adverse event report per 20 doses given to 1 in many thousands. What is going on here?

@cisonaut @JusDayDa @Johnincarlisle @YouTube One hint is in caption to Fig 1, showing that the high-AE batches actually had a *lower* proportion of serious AE's and deaths: blue trendline includes 71% of all SAE, but only 27% serious AE's and 47% of deaths. So mostly things like "soreness at injection site"?

@Johnincarlisle @sleightHanded @YouTube So you are saying that self-reported adverse reactions (which include things like a sore arm) have gone down almost a thousand fold since the early days of the pandemic? That sounds like excellent news!

@Mpark30460414 And besides, none of the former Soviet republics count as countries anyway, according to the Chinese ambassador...
