81 years ago today, soldiers of the 6th Armored Division liberate the Buchenwald concentration camp, Germany, freeing roughly 21,000 prisoners. 🪖

National Former POW Recognition Day is observed annually on April 9th to honor American service members who endured captivity as prisoners of war (POWs). This day acknowledges the immense sacrifices, courage, and resilience of former POWs.

On March 30, 2026, we honored the life and legacy of Col. (Ret.) Bud Anderson, America's last triple ace pilot of World War II. His legacy will live in the skies he journeyed, forever embedded in the freedom he helped defend.

This day in 1945, US troops of the 4th Armored and 89th Infantry Division liberate Ohrdruf, the first Nazi concentration camp liberated by US forces. The ghastly nature of their discovery led Eisenhower, Bradley and Patton to visit the camp days later. #WW2

While it is available for all ages, the guide booklets were designed for children ages 7 to 12.
