@thestrongchess I like the draw offer when the kid realizes he or she is lost. Also get this from adults occasionally, to which I usually reply with a derisive laugh.

If you play OTB, you should plan for annoying situations: * Little kid spams you with draw offers on your time * Opponent with distracting mannerisms or tics * Idiot starts talking at full volume These all happen! A simple plan can ensure you react appropriately and keep focus

@Nickvisel I quit Facebook because I couldn't remember my password and couldn't sign-in on the app. Decided it wasn't worth the hassle to reset my password. That was three years ago.

Chicago Class, rd. 2. Found myself down a piece after 15 moves as B. Decided to play on because I didn't want my game to go shorter than my commute. Got into a 4 pawns vs. 3 pawns + Kt endgame. Scummed out a draw. Once again. 1/2 (R1 bye). #chesspunks

@natesolon I said the same thing to the school nurse, to which she calmly asked me to please pick up my son. Trust me - much easier to screen their phone calls than to attempt to reason with them.

This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but the frequency with which kids get sick these days is not okay, and probably has long-term consequences for their health.

@drrmthomas Never sure whether I should try to read more books or just go deep-dive into a handful. I have fond memories of that one, though.

4-0, I won the western open, a local strong g60. In the final round I played white in this game against a 2290, very happy with my play after a rough chicago open.

Brutal tournament. Having issues with stamina during weekend events. Felt physically shitty after two rounds of g/60. Need to improve sleep and diet, increase exercise, and give up the smokes. Probably a good idea generally, but also... chess. Forty hits hard, man. #chesspunks

@Lona_Chess Excellent! Planning on attending that one, too. Last year I was 5/5 on drawing opponents not legally allowed to drive.

Just registered for my first OTB tournament in 18 months! ♟️🔥 The Chicago Class on July 19th. I SO miss OTB. I've missed the positive pressure it gives me to improve. 3 days where only #chess exists. Let's go! 💪
