To clarify: yes, ADHD is associated with premature death. AND,
ADHD itself is not believed to directly “cause” premature death. The increased risk appears to come largely from secondary effects that can accompany unsupported or untreated ADHD, like accidents/impulsivity, sleep problems, chronic stress, substance use, emotional dysregulation, healthcare inconsistency, burnout, and co-occurring mental or physical health challenges.
Importantly, research also suggests that treated ADHD is associated with better outcomes than untreated ADHD.
This is why we advocate for accessible diagnosis and treatment. XO, Dr. Jen

@Shrink_at_Large @guardian That is also applicable in most countries. Sad but true!

‘England’s mental health care lacks money, yes – but it also lacks compassion’. New article from me for @guardian emphasising the paradigm shift we need is as much about ideology as funding. Can we seize the moment? Can we afford not to? #IatrogenicHarm theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@DonnieOK Was nice in Stephenville, but the cool air still made it chilly. No complaints tho- it was sunny & nice. ☀️

@Mikeggibbs Nice post. My uncle was in hospital many weeks waiting for a room to free up in a home. I'm not blaming the staff, but IMHO those weeks did damage to him.
English

Losing Dad caring for him at home was excruciatingly painful in ways I can't put into words.
But one thing keeps me going: the knowledge that Dad's hospital bed is providing comfort to another elderly person in grave need. We paid it forward.

@Mikeggibbs 53 km wind shouldn't have knocked the fence down like that.
English

And there goes the neighbour's fence. That could become a costly fix or replacement.
This is a WINDY rainstorm.
My weather station just detected the highest wind gust in over 4 months clocking in at 53.3 km/hr.

@DrRebeccaRyan I also wouldn't have known you need a certain amount of salt in your diet
English

@DrRebeccaRyan That's interesting 🤔. I'm wondering if there's a possible connection to one's gut bacteria & #seizures too.

One thing that isn’t spoken about enough is how chronic illness changes the way you communicate.
A lot of chronically ill people learn to:
- Minimize symptoms
- Avoid complaining
- Rehearse explanations
- Downplay pain
- Act more functional than they are
Because being visibly unwell too often changes how people treat you.

@kainejohnson18 @kunmigbenga Some lose them anyway in surgery. I didn't know just how powerful fibroids were until you posted
English

@kunmigbenga Thank you @kunmigbenga
These stories pain me every time I share them, but they save lives.
Many women are still losing their wombs to these "dissolving mixtures" because of fear and wrong information.
The more people know the truth, the fewer will fall victim.

The Woman Who Lost Her Womb To A "FIBROID REMOVAL" Mixture
This is a very painful story.
35-year-old woman, mother of 1 child.
She did scan and found she has FIBROIDS.
They were not too big, not painful, doctors said she could leave them or operate later.
But she was scared: “Ah! It will grow big, it will block me. I don't want surgery.”
Someone told her: “I have a powerful herbal mixture. It dissolves fibroids, washing them out like blood. No surgery, no pain.”
She bought it. It was a bitter, strong, dark liquid.
She drank it for 3 months. This is what happened next.👇
👉FIRST MONTH: She had heavy bleeding, purging, and severe pain.
The seller said, "Good! The fibroid is melting and coming out. Continue.”
👉SECOND MONTH: Bleeding became uncontrollable. She was changing the pad every 30 mins. She became pale and weak and fainted twice.
👉THIRD MONTH: She started passing out pieces of flesh and clots. She thought it was the fibroid dissolving.
When she was brought to us, she was almost dead from blood loss.
We did emergency scans and surgery.
WHAT WE FOUND WAS HORRIBLE.
✅ THE FIBROIDS WERE STILL THERE. They were even bigger and harder.
✅ THE WALL OF HER WOMB WAS BURNT, ULCERATED, AND ROTTED BY THE HERBS.
The mixture was full of strong acids and toxic herbs meant to "scrub" the womb.
✅ IT DID NOT DISSOLVE THE FIBROID, IT WAS EATING HER WOMB ITSELF.
The bleeding was from the wound the herbs created, not from the fibroid.
✅ THE RESULT:👇
Because the womb was so damaged, infected, and bleeding non-stop…
WE HAD TO REMOVE HER ENTIRE WOMB TO SAVE HER LIFE.
She was only 35. She wanted more children. Now she can never have again.
ALL BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO "DISSOLVE" FIBROID NATURALLY.
✅ MEDICAL TRUTH ABOUT FIBROIDS:👇
Fibroids are HARD MUSCLE BALLS. They are harder than your own muscles.
THERE IS NO HERB, NO DRINK, NO MIXTURE THAT CAN DISSOLVE THEM.
👉If something is strong enough to melt fibroid… IT IS STRONG ENOUGH TO MELT YOUR WOMB, YOUR STOMACH, AND YOUR INTESTINES FIRST.
✅ WHAT THOSE MIXTURES DO:👇
✔️ They make you bleed heavily (they thin the blood).
✔️They burn the lining of the womb.
✔️They damage the liver and kidney.
✔️They make you think "something is coming out", but it is just your own flesh and blood.
✅ WHAT TO DO INSTEAD:👇
✔️SMALL FIBROIDS: Leave them alone. They shrink after menopause.
✔️BIG or PAINFUL or BLEEDING:
Go for proper surgery or modern treatment. It is safe.
👉NOTHING YOU DRINK CAN REMOVE A SOLID BALL OF MUSCLE.
