Thinking of great grandad today who fought all the way from the Normandy beaches to Berlin. He’d have been proud to see Reform doing so well. That said, he was in the 21st Panzer Division…

If we can't think for ourselves, if we're unwilling to question authority, then we're just putty in the hands of those in power. But if the citizens are educated and form their own opinions, then those in power work for us.

Fascinating and very disturbing that the @DailyMailUK feels free to publish such damaging nonsense.

Cracking trip down Lost Johns yesterday. Just Andy and me, so we nicely filled 2 tackle bags for Cathedral route to Sink Chamber. Andy put his recent ⁦@cncc_uk⁩ training into practice and rigged it all.

Returning from an excellent week’s ski touring in Norway’s Rondane mountains with Andrew Hogarth & Mark Ireland. Bit nippy around -15, but fabulous skiing and views.

Putin said Boris Johnson is a liar. It’s like one of those puzzles. ‘A man who never tells the truth says a man who always lies has told a lie. What actually happened’? It’s too tricky for me.

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken.

Excellent day out in the North Pennines on Wednesday 18th. Just enough snow, but it was silky smooth with great glide.

Here’s the video in which Vote Leave promised shorter A&E waiting times once we left the EU. Now, six and a half years after the referendum, the number of people waiting for more than four hours in A&E is the highest on record.

@Sally__D According to “A Century in Stone”, Henry Bolckow and John Vaughan discovered iron ore in the Eston Hills, leading to the Teesside steel industry.

Some winter sunshine just before the rain kicked in! A lovely walk along the Weardale Way from Page Bank in a westerly direction. Great spot for wildlife. Also found a Bolckows colliery brick - apparently the company was a driving force in the growth of Middlesbrough in C19th.
