I am appalled by the government's proposal to break up the great County of Essex into five unitary authorities, which is simply not acceptable. My constituents don't want this, and they were not part of any engagement. How can the Labour government justify to my constituents, why they should be paying more in council tax for a costly and undemocratic policy they do not support.

Rachel Reeves has trashed our economy. Britain's inflation is the highest in the G7 - and that's before the Middle East crisis is taken into account. Growth flat. Record borrowing. Crippling taxes. Only @Conservatives have a plan to get Britain working again.

Last night @Keir_Starmer gave the game away. The UK is not challenging the mullahs in Iran because he is pandering to militant Islam. Any British politician advocating against our joining the US in this necessary action is effectively supporting militant Islam in the UK

Hi David, I have no idea if you are just ignorant of the facts or if your Prime Minister has set you an example of telling blatant lies and hoping people believe them, but I am afraid this is just utter garbage. The good news is that if you think it already happens then presumably you will have no problem in agreeing to my Bill to make it ‘compulsory’. Although I suspect logic is as alien to you as the truth.

Halal & Kosher meat is already labelled. The claims she makes about stunning are contested. This isn’t about animal welfare. It’s about dog whistles that brand minorities & their religious practices as cruel. I expected this of Rupert Lowe, who sponsored a Westminster Hall debate on this a few months ago-but am shocked that senior Tories are following his lead.

I’ve been in Parliament 11 years and Starmer’s admission just now is the most shocking I’ve heard He just admitted he knew Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein continued after Epstein’s conviction Yet Starmer still chose to appoint him as Ambassador Unbelievable Starmer did that

@Helen_Whately If you want to experience incompetence, HELEN is your person. Absolutely clueless, lies as easily as breathing in and out. Due to her stupidity, anything and everything that comes out of her mouth needs to be treated with the contempt it deserves.

Last night Labour, Lib Dems & even some Reform MPs voted to lift the 2-child cap. Hard-pressed taxpayers will be paying for those on benefits to have more children than they themselves can afford. Conservatives are now the only party serious about controlling welfare spending.
Helen Whately MP@Helen_Whately

Endless handouts don’t lift children out of poverty. Getting parents into work does. Scrapping the 2-child cap isn’t kind, fair to taxpayers or affordable... yet we're the only party who sees this.
