Last night I was in a total blackout in Cuba's capital Havana - a result of the cruel & illegal US blockade and Trump's attempt to tighten this by stopping any fuel getting in. Trump is trying to strangle millions of people into submission. We must take a stand against this.

It’s worth remembering that UK doesn’t have bases in the country of Cyprus - they’re located on British territory, which means this is once again an attack on our sovereignty by the EU.

@Anniepop2027 @BBCNews North Sea Oil and Gas was never sold off. Licences were granted to companies to extract it and tax revenues were generated as well as jobs created.

@s8mb There's plenty of gas and oil under the North Sea, the Government merely needs to be prepared to license someone to extract it.

Reminder: there's no gas to be fracked in Britain or the rest of Europe, and there's no oil or gas left in the North Sea. That's why we cannot give licenses to companies looking for reserves there and have to tax their profits at 78%.

@ChrisO_wiki @lewis_goodall It's no different to the US having military bases in Cuba. The bases are not part of Cyprus - quite lucky really because the Greek Cypriots in Famagusta were about to escape through them when the Turks invaded 50 years ago.

@lewis_goodall Right-wingers will doubtless fume that they are sovereign British territory, which is quite true, but they would also be completely unviable if the Cypriot government withdrew its support and closed the border or banned military overflights.

To match the average police pension after 30 years service, you'd need to have £1.5 MILLION in your private pension...by your mid 50s (!) Less that 1% of people with private pensions will accrue this. The Public Sector are the real 1%. The State is unsustainable.
