Last night I was in a total blackout in Cuba's capital Havana - a result of the cruel & illegal US blockade and Trump's attempt to tighten this by stopping any fuel getting in. Trump is trying to strangle millions of people into submission. We must take a stand against this.

How is this fair? British kids have to get 3 As to get into University yet foreign students have to get 2 Cs and 1 D.... for the exact same course.

@HendryMr22757 @hewantswealth It collects £331 billion in income tax. That doesn't include all the other forms of taxation like VAT, fuel duty, inheritance tax and so on.

@hewantswealth Where are these rumours. UK collects 331bn in tax and spends 333bn on welfare. The UK now spends more on people that do not work than those that work generates.

Rumours circulating of the Personal Tax Allowance increasing from £12,570 to £20,070 🤯 After YEARS of frozen thresholds…this feels like a breakthrough. More money in your pocket. More breathing room. More opportunity to actually get ahead. A monumental shift…🚀

My neighbours boy is having another “mental episode”… it happens at least once a fortnight, an ambulance and 2 paramedics have been parked over my fucking drive for the last hour and 15 minutes 🤬.. I can imagine some poor old person laying in pain with a broken hip while this prick gets a “there there”.

@Warfarer97 @BrugesGroup It was never a "native Greek island". It was a part of the Ottoman Empire until the end of World War 1. The idea of Enosis was why the Turks ended up invading in 1974. Go there and see the slogans posted up on the mountains.

North Sea Oil was sold off by the Tories and is sold on the open global oil market so it would NOT be cheaper. Helen Whately calls it “our own gas” no it isn’t Helen .. your party sold it off for a fraction of its worth. Stop misleading the public @BBCNews

@Anniepop2027 @BBCNews North Sea Oil and Gas was never sold off. Licences were granted to companies to extract it and tax revenues were generated as well as jobs created.

@BlackSwanFife @United1380 @jim8oy66 The Griffiths report proposed a move to Care in the Community because it had long been recognised that those psychiatric hospitals were not caring institutions. It was a bit like "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest".

@AbslomD @ursine_meeting Everyone who went to a good uni knows these lists are BS and favour the unis the list compilers attended. No one actually believes LSE is the third best uni in Britain, third wokest perhaps.

.@robertbigbags 1/2 A commonly believed myth. The RAF did not defeat the Luftwaffe in Summer 1940, or why were the Germans able to bliitz Coventry, London and Liverpool between September 1940 and May 1941?
Robert Smith@Robertbigbags

@ClarkeMicah @DrChrisParry Actually the real danger to Britain ended when the RAF defeated the Luftwaffe in summer 1940, it gave us the winter of 40/41 to rearm and more importantly launch enough ships to counter any threat in the channel. Ref Churchill: "The Second World War" vol 2

@XchekaSnowball @ClarkeMicah @Robertbigbags Then we showed them how to do it for real when we did the same to them in Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin. In Coventry only the city centre was razed to the ground. The ring road follows the line of the fire break which was created.

@ClarkeMicah @Robertbigbags Gracious me, this profile gets his historic data from the back of a crisp packet. Mr Hitchens is quite correct, the blitzes thereafter proves that the Luftwaffe was far from defeated. By memory, they had the Messerschmitt Bf 109.

@ClarkeMicah @Robertbigbags Because the Germans came at night. The Battle of the Beams refers to the German direction finding systems to guide bombers to their targets despite the black out. Eventually we developed night fighters which brought that to an end too.

@s8mb There's plenty of gas and oil under the North Sea, the Government merely needs to be prepared to license someone to extract it.

Reminder: there's no gas to be fracked in Britain or the rest of Europe, and there's no oil or gas left in the North Sea. That's why we cannot give licenses to companies looking for reserves there and have to tax their profits at 78%.

@ChrisO_wiki @lewis_goodall It's no different to the US having military bases in Cuba. The bases are not part of Cyprus - quite lucky really because the Greek Cypriots in Famagusta were about to escape through them when the Turks invaded 50 years ago.

@lewis_goodall Right-wingers will doubtless fume that they are sovereign British territory, which is quite true, but they would also be completely unviable if the Cypriot government withdrew its support and closed the border or banned military overflights.

To match the average police pension after 30 years service, you'd need to have £1.5 MILLION in your private pension...by your mid 50s (!) Less that 1% of people with private pensions will accrue this. The Public Sector are the real 1%. The State is unsustainable.
