Here is the distinction for me. The moment he put himself in physical contact and conflict with police, he’s considered a combatant. Adding the gun into the mix while being combative is a for sure way to escalate a situation. Cops are trained, just like concealed carry, that if you’re in fear of your life and there is iminent danger they have the right to use force to stop that threat. U.S. cops have been killing people in confrontations with them for decades and the majority are found within the law. This case will be no different. I honestly cannot blame the cops in these split second situations. If ya wanna stop the deaths stop the confrontation and power struggle. Let the police and ICE do their jobs (they have the authority), and fight the injustices in courts. Clearly these protesters want confrontation and more martyrdom. It’s honestly death by cop due to extreme ideologies.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.
